shadowmeboy Posted June 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Does anyone know why the Norwegian Sun went to Skagway on Thursday and Juneau today, instead of Juneau on Thursday and Skagway today as listed on the port schedules in Alaska. Seems this change would cause havoc to shore excursions both private and ship booked. Any insight is appreciated.
zqvol Posted June 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2016 What did the NCL web site show as the port order, that is what really matters.
CruisingCouple13 Posted June 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2016 I was on this sailing, and we were told that they had to switch the ports to treat the ship's water.
Dwtlion Posted July 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2016 Anyone know if the Sun docked in Skagway on July 8 as scheduled? If not, why not?
bonvoyagie Posted July 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2016 She was in Sitka on the 7th and Juneau on the 8th, Ketchikan on the 9th and is sailing back to Vancouver today. She has been skipping Skagway on the SB voyages a lot this year. I have also been wondering why. As Shadowmeboy stated on his cruise they gave the excuse as being for water treatment. B297 Posted July 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2016 If Skagway is missed on the south bound trip, when do the passengers get told? We're on the 25 July sailing Vancouver to Seward and back and have booked an independent tour for the return visit to Skagway.
Musigurl Posted July 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Someone recently posting a review added this: He (the captain) talked about how the drydock in April/May had killed all the bacteria in the water treatment plant onboard. They had yet to get the levels required by the State of Alaska to discharge waste inside State waters, thus we had to have a itinerary change to facilitate the dumping of treated sewage which did not meet Alaska levels by going to Sitka. Sitka is out on the Pacific Ocean, and not in the inside part of Alaska's Southweast. Therefore, we were able to get far enough out to Sea to discharge on our way to and from Sitka. Still not 100% sure what the plan is for my July 18 sailing.
