NCL Jewel SE Question

Recommended Posts

I have been reading various posts re: the Jewel SE penthouse suites on decks 9 and 10. If I am understanding this correctly, deck 10 has a bit smaller decks than does deck 9.

Is it just cabins 10000 and 10500 with the smaller decks under the bridge area?

However, looking at the deck plans on the NCL website... I see that it is deck 9 showing smaller decks, with a bit more room in the cabins. Anyone have some thoughts on this ?

Those who have stayed in the SEs should please add their personal knowledge, but from the research I did on here before booking our very first SE (for the Panama Canal!), the balconies on the SEs on Deck 9 are larger than they are on Deck 10, but the *interiors* of 10500 and 10000 are larger than the interiors on Deck 9 because of the "bump out" of the bridge above. Those Deck 10 suites have a little more of an actual sitting area, sort of a bay window, as can be seen in photos and videos if you do a search here and on the web, e.g.:

Some folks apparently consider the overhang from the bridge to be a negative in terms of getting sun everywhere on the balconies of 10500 and 10000, but I think that will be a big plus in the tropics. :)

I don't know whether all of the balconies on the Deck 9 SEs are larger than the balconies of 10502 and 10002, hopefully someone can answer that.

Thank you for your time on this. This is was my understanding.. but the deck plans I see, show deck 9 as having the larger decks. Doesn't make sense to me.. but then a lot of things don't make sense to me.

Have a look at this and see if you understand my confusion.

Don't trust the Floor Plans or details of specific cabins/suites on the Deck Plans.

They might be accurate, but especially when there are only a few of a kind OR a category has two or more different styles, these schematics are often NOT accurate.

The forward balconies on Deck 9 are indeed deeper than on Deck 10, regardless of what the diagrams show.

If you missed my photos of the Jewel Forward Penthouse SE 9002, I have attached the link. The balcony was very large with two lounges and a pair of small tables. We also brought out the two chairs from our inside table to sit on when cruising to Endicott Glacier (Tracey Arm was ice chocked). The wind can be a bit much when cruising at full speed but if you step back from the balcony railing the wind subsides nicely. As we had very nice weather on our June 4-11 cruise we used the balcony more than usual.
