Lindypops Posted June 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2016 We sailed on the last leg of the recent world voyage of the QM2 and were allowed to buy alcohol from the on board shop and take it to our cabin to drink on board. Does anyone know if the same applies on the Queen Victoria? Thanks
Rare carlmm Posted June 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Usually, alcohol bought in the shops will be delivered to your stateroom the last or last but one night. Sometimes you have to pick it up at the shop at that point of time. Or at least that is the way it used to be but your post is also the first time I hear about it being allowed on the QM2 either. Lindypops Posted June 20, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Yes I agree on all other cruises I have been on they delivered the booze to your cabin on the last night. However that was not the case from Dubai to Southampton 21 night voyage back in April this year. Maybe it was done as a sweetener to keep people happy as we missed ports, had 9 sea days all in one go and at least 400 people went down with Norovirus. fantasy51 Posted June 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2016 You can take alcohol on board with you. Buy it duty free if you are flying (and if you are going through an airport that allows that) or buy it in port when you get off the ship. We did the latter with no problems on a cruise last year on QV.
misscolina Posted June 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Can you order 1 Litre or smaller bottles of spirits from Room Service to consume in your cabin, like you can on most other cruise lines?
Underwatr Posted June 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Can you order 1 Litre or smaller bottles of spirits from Rtoom Service to consume in your cabin, like you can on most other cruise lines?Yes, you can (and they sweeten the deal with six cans of your choice of carbonated mixer) but the prices are much higher than in the duty-free shop (on the order of twice the price). misscolina Posted June 25, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2016 Thank you for your reply, I know the cost is quite high but sometimes you just want to sit on the balcony with a G&T and not in one of the bars.
Underwatr Posted June 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2016 The answer is to carry some on, either at embarkation or in a port of call. We've done it both ways.
