What to do in St Tropez

I will be on a 7 day Med Cruise in late August, and first port of call is St Tropez, France. I've never been there before, so looking for suggestions on what to do. Should I book an excursion, or just explore on foot?

There doesn't appear to be a lot in the Port of Call forum on St. Tropez.

 

I was there mid August last year, on a Princess excursion from Toulon. Part of the excursion was supposed to be a boat trip around Port Grimaud, but it was cancelled so we missed out on that. We were lucky we were there on a market day (Tuesday and Saturday mornings I think) so we just had a wander around the market and around the town.

 

It wasn't a really interesting place to visit, but we had a nice day.
