verwirrt Posted May 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2004 The balconies on Caribe deck are larger, partially exposed balconies. See the deck plans at princess.com
Ghost Posted May 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2004 The Caribe deck balconies are the BEST. 1/2 covered, 1/2 exposed and are the largest, besides the suites. We had 2 reclining padded chairs, a small side table and a dining table and 2 chairs and still plenty of room to move around. Lauire Posted May 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2004 You will love the Caribe balconies. They are as stated before 1/2 exsposed & 1/2 covered & are 9 X 9. We had our room steward (w/ the help of some $) get us a lounger also. We placed the lounger out in the sun area along the rail . . . great way to catch some rays & still had enough room for the table & chairs which we used for our room service breakfast each morning. Regarding St. John I will bump up some posts for you since this topic is covered frequently, also check the boards for "Ports of Call" this subject has been covered recently there also. Enjoy! dcourt Posted May 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2004 We were on the Star last October and had a BB on the Caribe. The balcony was wonderful. It is twice as big as the others. If you get the chance to book a cabin on the Caribe deck go for it!! Have a great cruise. And what is the cabin category for that deck as well for the balconies your talking about? Thanks in advance. ov911lady Posted May 15, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 15, 2004 I have some photos of the balconies on the Caribe deck. If you click on my link in my signature, go to my first photo album and look at photo 7, and some around it. Photo 7 is a close up of Caribe 747 balcony. I took these photos while the Diamond was docked in San Pedro. Enjoy your cruise!!! Karen Lynn Posted May 15, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Thanks for the link! The pics are great and the balcony looks really terrific. I am presuming the Caribe deck is the lower of the 2 larger balconies as the upper one looks totally exposed to the one above? Thanks for your help! ov911lady Posted May 15, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 15, 2004 You are welcome Karen Lynn ! I can't seem to get back on my Yahoo site, but if I recall, photo #7 was a close up of the Caribe deck balcony. On the shot where you see the side of the ship, the Caribe deck balconies would be the 3rd from the bottom. Aloha and Baja decks (below) are totally exposed to the ones above. Hope this answers your question or helps out! bob&karen Posted May 15, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Cyt4SoreEyes, All of the Caribe balconies are large - side balconies are 9X9, the two cabin balconies aft are a hair larger, closer to 10X10 (there is a little bit of a curve around the outside, therefore it isn't perfectly square). Aft balconies are totally covered & therefore completely private (can't be viewed from above). On the eastern Caribbean route, you get afternoon sun on the way out, and morning sun on the way back. As someone who plans on trying to reserve only aft balconies from now on, and hopes to have one available, I am obligated to tell you that they are absolutely horrible and that you would hate them.
