So beyond excited! We sail next Friday on the Dawn to Bermuda and initially booked a mid-ship interior room, traveling with another couple who is next door to us.

I called the Upsell department 3 times - and this last time was the charm! We were upgraded to an SJ Family Suite for $250 per person, cabin 12008. Our friends are right next door. I think this is a great deal! We keep our UBP promo but don't get any of the others unfortunately.

I haven't traveled in a suite since the 90s when Mom and Dad paid for it, so not sure what to expect! Has anyone sailed in one of these suites that can provide some useful info? Tips, tricks, etc? What do I do with a butler? :) Is the food in Cagneys for breakfast and lunch better than the buffet? What time can we board? (What time should we get there?)

Seriously dancing around the house I'm so excited. Not telling hubby until we arrive at the pier!!

Fantastic! The Sjs are very nice. What's your cabin number? We had an SJ, but on the Pearl, and the jogging track was overhead, the only drawback. But these may be in a totally different area on the Dawn.

Lots of info on the board about the suite perks, but just remember the Butler takes care of things "inside" the cabin, and the Concierge handles anything "outside" the cabin. And neither are included in the DSC pool, so plan on some cash for tipping at the end of the cruise.

Yes, Cagneys is great for breakfast. So much more relaxing and it's pretty much the same variety you would find in the buffet and then some. Tahitian French Toast, steak and eggs, anyone?:p. We do prefer the buffet for lunch at times as there are sooo many options compared to the more limited menu in Cagneys.

That is a FANTASTIC upsell price! Grats!

Suite... be sure you go to the suite check in, and they will take you onboard first, to Cagneys (or whichever restaurant it is on Dawn). On Sky, we had a little "orientation" with with the concierge, on Jade we didnt.

There will be fruit and wine in the cabin, and snacks every afternoon that your butler will bring. If you like certain things, ask. We've had everything from canapes to fruit/cheese/veggie trays to chocolate covered strawberries to cookies to cake and sandwiches. Our butler on Jade even made the kids these awesome little sweet cream and fruit concoctions that were amazing (One kid didnt like it, so I ate it ... )

The butler should also come around and show you the suite phone (it is portable and works all over the ship), the coffee maker, and will make any changes that you like in your fridge (emptied, put a pitcher of tea/juice/water in there...we had chocolate milk for the kids). S/he can also draw you a special bath (prices are on a little card in the bathroom), help pack/unpack, and bring any food you want to have in the cabin.

Cagneys breakfast is amazing, lunch is also good (to me), but the menu never changes, so if you want more variety, eating elsewhere is an option. I just hate crowds, so I ALWAYS go to Cagneys if Im on the ship.

I would get there 10:30/11ish, that will ensure you get onboard and dont miss anything.

Have fun! You'll be amazingly spoiled!

You will love the suite life, and you'll find it hard to go back to regular cabins after this!

The butler takes care of everything to do with your suite that the cabin steward does not. Principally they will make sure the cabin is always supplied with coffee supplies, and see to any requests you might have. The best butlers will check with you when they first meet you about your preferences for any snacks, such as fruit or cookies. They will take any room service orders you might have and will deliver and setup the meals. You can order from any restaurant on the ship, including the specialty restaurants (although you will pay the normal a la carte fees for whatever you order from a specialty restaurant). They will deliver the suite goodies that NCL provides, and can setup bar service as you require. If you want to have a catered party in your suite, you can arrange that through the butler.

You also have the services of the concierge. That person deals with all your needs outside your cabin. He or she can make specialty restaurant reservations, make your shore excursion reservations, spa reservations, etc. That person will also setup priority disembarkation at ports and on your return to the home port.

Please remember that the Butler and Concierge do not participate in the ship's gratuity pool. Your cabin steward does, but we feel that if that person does a good job with the suite (which is a lot more work than a regular cabin) they deserve something extra too. Some people tip as they go along on the cruise - we prefer to leave on larger gratuity with them at the end of the cruise.

The food in Cagney's is WAY better than the food in the buffet or the MDR's. Breakfast is a treat there, and you get French Press coffee which is the best on the ship if you're a coffee drinker. Lunch is also excellent - perhaps the only drawback to lunch is that the menu does not change through the cruise. But there's enough variety to do for a short cruise, and you are always free to eat in one of the other restaurants at any time.

Enjoy it...you'll love the suite life!

Thanks, all! Great info.

So if we are exhausted after a day of fun in Bermuda, we can order dinner to our suite? Will the butler have copies of the MDR menus? No fee for MDR delivery?

I understand they will bring you drinks... assuming you pay for those and they won't be covered by the UBP?

I read somewhere that there is a preference sheet you can fill out and send to NCL before you cruise. Any idea where I can find that?

And, dare I ask... what are the odds of getting some bottled water? ;)

And yes, we will of course tip our butler and concierge.

Yes they will deliver dinner, we used them to bring us breakfast on a port day to save a little time, you can write what you want it does not need to be on the card.

Drinks through room service and not covered by UBP.

Before the cruise the concierge will email you regarding preferences, pillows etc. sometimes they are complete when you board, other times you may need to ask butler.

The room comes with large bottled water and sparkling wine. Extra bottled water would be extra.

Congratulations on your upsell! We were in a suite last year and will be again next week (I can't wait!). Last year when we got to Black Falcon it seemed confusing to me. I had read on these boards about all the perks suite people get. I couldn't imagine that one of them was standing in a long line! My DH asked one of the workers if there was a place where people in suites checked in and we were brought right to the front and up the stairs! We checked in and were escorted to the suite waiting area. If that doesn't happen, make sure you ask someone. We were there around 10:45 and escorted our room at 11:30, then to Cagneys for lunch at noon!

We didn't use the butler for much other than emptying our fridge and filling the coffee pods when they got low. He brought snacks 5 out of the 7 days and we didn't see him at all the last two days. We are hoping for a better butler this year.

I hope you have as much fun as I know we will! See you next week :)

They will take your reservation number and let you know what deals they have available. I called last week and they only had a Haven suite for 1,500 pp. Called yesterday and upgraded my Escape 7/31 cruise from interior room deck 5 to Haven Spa for 500 pp. Since we were going to get week passes for the spa anyway, we basically upgraded our room for $300 pp. We are thrilled!!!! We are sailing Western and don't enjoy the ports so we are really just going for the ship and ammenities :) Time to go pack!!!

As far as meals in the room, you don't call room service for anything. If you do, they will just inform your butler and then he will be upset because you did not go to him direct.

MDR meals are available. No delivery charge for any thing brought to room. You can even order from a Specialty Restaurant. Ask the butler to get the menus. Usually they are just left there the entire cruise. Of course, you would have the cover fee or a la carte prices charged to your account, or counted toward your SDP. They will set up the meal, white tablecloth, and then usually just leave. They may ask you to call when you need it cleared away, or may just return later on their own.

Tried again today for 7-24 breakaway they want 1000 pp for haven and with many mini suites and balconies available still not granting upsell. They are holding them until three business days before the cruise

Can you call for an upsell if you did not directly book with NCL? We used Expedia. I had an issue come up already regarding the room choice, and when I called NCL they told me I would have to deal directly with Expedia. I did, and everything was resolved promptly. Was just wondering if I had to call Expedia for an upsell as well. We don't travel much, but this Alaska trip has taught me that it is better to book direct with EVERYTHING, than to use a TA or online travel company.

Just an FYI, Upsells and Upgrades are two different things Makes sure you call the Upsell number and ask about Upsells and as the PP said you can do that without using your TA. If you called the regular number and asked about and upgrade (or need to deal with any other part of you reservation) and you booked with a TA you have to do an upgrade/Issue through the TA.

Are you within 30 days of your cruise? From what others have posted Upsells start to be released 30 days out. You maybe have to call every week or few days as well as they are not always released 30 days out.

Yup, since we booked an interior cabin we got the UBP and that's all we're getting in the suite.

Just a word of caution, we booked with an outside agent and also got insurance with her. I happened to let her know that we did an upsell and she was thankful that I told her, because we needed to add onto our insurance policy. We would not of been covered if we had sailed and not done this.

Help please! Is there a special upsell telephone number? How far in advance should one try to get the Upsell? Any other info that would give an advantage to get one? Thanks.

If you booked through a Travel Agent, do you ask for an upsell with them or Norwegian customer service directly?
