Bed that pulls out from the Queen/twin

Has anyone had any experience with the bed that pulls out from the Queen/twin bed in an Ocean view room. Have you slept on it?

I think they call it a trundle bed or something like that? We are thinking of booking last minute on The DAWN but need 4 to a room. With two kids in their early teens. would one of them be able to sleep comfortably on that bed? Is it just as long as the Queen bed. How comfortable? Just talked to NCL and there are no cabins available with two bunks that pull down from the ceiling for this cruise only cabins left are with the trundle bed and one bunk.

Any Help please.

See the pix from this post - it was from the GEM (2012) - Oceanview porthole, beddings for 4 (sister ships, almost identical to the Dawn, which we also previously sailed) pictures should give you a good idea.

As for sleeping comfort, it's the same exact high density-foam mattress like the regular double/queen bed - it locked into place & might actually be firmer as it's not always used. There're only 2 of us in the stateroom with 4 beds ... we actually moved the bed against one side of the long wall - and yours will need to be configure likewise - fourth bed drop down from the wall/ceiling, again, same size/length foam mattress.

For extra comfort & cushion, try & ask RM if s/he can get some egg crates to place on top (haven't read lately of anyone asked for them) and not sure, post recent dry-docking, whether all the mattresses were replaced with brand new ones - as it's old & been used for a while, probably overdue for :D

I know you are asking about OV but when they added the inside rooms on 12 those have two bunks on the wall if any of those are available. Plus the location on 12 is pretty good being close to pool, buffet, top decks. Pretty sure all the other OV/Insides on Dawn would be only 1 bed on wall with trundle pop up for the 4th person.
