negn Posted July 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Got a comped oceanview for upcoming cruise. Now see price for balcony only $20 (total) more than ocean view. I called CAS and they offered it for $100 pp. Always sail balcony but as this is port intensive decided I did not need for $200 but for $20 thats different! Could upsell bump me or do I need to use CAS ?
Rare mking8288 Posted July 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2016 How close are you to sailing date & does it look like there's plenty of balconies. CAS upgrade don't always match that of Upsell in asking prices. Why not call Upsell directly & find out, or counter in-between ? Worst thing is they won't deal and your choice to accept or say no thanks. Others seemed to be scoring lately with all sort of nice deals.
cherylroslyn Posted July 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2016 You probably can't but that doesn't mean I wouldn't try. I think CAS is allocated a certain block of rooms and for that reason I think they control the prices once you are under their control. But I would just innocently call upsell and not even bring up anything about CAS and see if it works. For my money I really don't get why they make it difficult sometimes for CAS player.....if a normal non-CAS player could do this upgrade for $20.00 bucks each it makes no sense why one of their best customers, a customer that likely drops thousands in the Casino each trip can't, its infuriating. I dealt with that issue for a while with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean when they started including the drink packages and other perks in their fares.....initially their casino programs were not comping the rooms with the perks.......it made no sense....if you think I deserve a free ocean view or balcony and a normal ocean view or balcony comes with perks, then why can't I get perks....the debate waged for months and then finally they saw their policy made no sense..... riddle Posted July 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2016 Some may have had different scenarios, but when I have called the Upsell Dept. they have told me they only do upsells to Suites.
Rare mking8288 Posted July 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2016 Only to Suites ... might be true, depending on the ship, itinerary & dates. Hangup, call back later or tomorrow - you've tried today. If your fishing site is suggesting good availability, wait & call back - tomorrow or next week as it get closer to final cutoff, like 2 days prior; and, ask again. Nothing to lose. Last time we shopped/booked via CAS, about 2.5 months out - they immediately offered & quoted upgrade pricing for the higher categories with all the breakdown $$. Called back 2 days later with another agent and suffice to say, prices were "slightly" different. Regardless, you are sailing at a discounted non-rack rate, and unlike the regular lines - they answered pretty quickly & I don't have to put them on speakerphone while on HOLD for the next available rep. :p
pe4all Posted July 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2016 On my last cruise (June GA) I called the upsell dept. to move from my balcony (which I upgraded from a free inside offered from CAS - $300 pp) to a large balcony or suite. The upsell dept. transferred me over to CAS, cause that was where my initial booking was made. The prices CAS offered me to upsell was way more expensive than the upsells people were getting on my roll call. (non-CAS bookings) I actually called Upsell Dept. 2 more times, and they immediately switched me to CAS, who continued to offer me prices way above what others were getting upsells for.
