Galleon1234 Posted July 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2016 I am a little confused on how to use the points. RCCL lets you apply your points to pay toward your cruise. Carnival seems to want you to use their CC to charge the cruise payment then you redeem your points toward the CC charge? Is that correct? We paid the down payment for the cruise with a Carnival gift card. Thanks for any info!
ShakyBeef Posted July 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2016 Yes, that's correct. You can redeem your FunPoints for a statement credit for qualifying purchases (any Carnival purchase, other cruiselines, hotel, airfare, etc.). When you use your Carnival MC to pay the final payment, you get double FPs. Then, you simply cash in your FunPoints from your credit card account website for a refund of all or some of what you spent, depending on how many points you cash in. I just did this for my final payment on my September cruise. I cashed in 177,819 FPs and got my $2,667.28 statement credit a couple days later.:) It's very easy, just different from how RCI does it with their card. I have a Barclaycard Arrival + and always saw that for 100,000 points you received $1500. credit for a cruise. They changed the website and now I am not able to see where you can calculate how many points you would need, and customer service wasn't much help. You really made out on yours!!! Hi.:) Yes, this is the Carnival FunPoints Mastercard from Barclays (Barclays now calls it the Carnival World MC, I believe). With this card, the best redemption rate is for Carnival purchases of $1500 or more. They changed the website for my card as well, and it took them awhile to load up the link to the RewardsBoost shopping portal. And when they did, they kind of "hid" it compared to where it used to be. I don't have the Arrival card, so I don't know how similar/dissimilar the website is to that of the FunPoints MC, but in case it helps, on my site, I get to the points calculator by: clicking on Rewards & Benefits, in the banner across the top (about 1/5 of the way down the screen from the top) and bringing up the drop-down menu from the drop-down menu, choosing Rewards & Benefits Center (first item on menu) clicking on Start using my FunPoints (in the big picture box, above the 3 smaller picture boxes) Then, in the upper left quadrant of the next screen, the Rewards Calculator shows up under Pay With FunPoints, as "How Many FunPoints Will I Need To Pay For My Cruise?" Maybe you get to your calculator in a similar way? Do you have a Rewards & Benefits tab? Thanks, yes, this was a good one for me, the largest so far of my 5 cash-ins (all for statement credits) since I got the card in 2005. Two years ago I cashed in 153,333 FunPoitns for a $2300 credit. The FPs add up fast.:D
Micahs Grandad Posted July 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2016 Earlier this year made the mistake of transferring my points for $ 700 plus obc. Luckily checked with guest services to make sure it was refundable obc and to our surprise it is considering nonrefundable. We were able to plan to get our money back via the casino trick. Galleon1234 Posted July 30, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted July 30, 2016 Yes, and I do not think you can use it in the casino either. I believe on RCCL you can use your point OBC in the casino. You really have to do your homework on all the ins and outs.:)!

I am now up to almost 80,000 points so by the final payment date I will be able to do this. My Arrival + pays 2 for 1 for every purchase. I love using this card!:p
