Spirit Venice to Barcelona questions

I am looking forward to getting on board next week.

Here are a couple of questions (maybe more later):

1. What time can you start boarding the ship in Venice?

2. What time is the muster station safety drill?

If you miss this on the 1st day, when is the makeup time?

3. Can you get off the boat after boarding to walk around the port area of

Venice?

Is this option even worth considering?

4. When does the fill up laundry bag day occur during the cruise?

5. The ship is scheduled to dock at Civitavecchia at 8 AM. What was the

actual time you could get off the ship?

We did the Barcelona to Venice last month and 4 years ago did the Venice to Barcelona

both reviews are in links at the bottom of my reply

However from doing both ways and assuming not much changed in 4 years

1 boarding usually starts by 11.30 with boarding numbers.Unless you are in a suite the earlier you get to the port the lower your number and therefore called on board first.

2 muster drill usually about 4-5pm and a catch up drill the next morning

3 this is because many people do in fact go back out into Venice after boarding especially if they haven't added a couple of days pre cruise.I assume the sailaway is still 1am so gives plenty of time.

The port of Venice isn't very interesting but you can walk or take the people mover tram to P Roma and then either vaparetto along the grand canal to St Marks or even walk the route[which will be a very maze like route but easy to follow using the signs on the buildings

4 because we are now platinum and get a free bag of laundry to use any day of the cruise I cant swear by when the fill a bag for $19.99 was but think happened within the first few days

5 usually the ship clears pretty quickly in Civitiveccia so you should be able to get off just after 8 as the ship often arrives earlier than that time

We did this trip last year and I can confirm fabnfortysomethings reply. If you're reasonably fit it's a lovely walk through Venice to St Marks square. The streets are well signposted, just make sure you allow plenty of time to get back to the ship!

We loved the Spirit and had a great trip, hope yours is just as good :)

I believe the sailaway next week is at 11 PM.

So that leaves 3 hours or so before and/or after the muster drill to wander aimlessly around the canals of Venice.

We did this in may this year.

The make up muster drill was next day evening. I think it was at 1700.

We had the all-you-can-full laundry bag once - on the 5 th day of the cruise.

At civitavecchia there was a delay in the perry authorities clearing the paps so we got of the ship only at 8.25. Missed the 8.40 train into Rome. Took the express at 9.40 I think.

Thanks for the encouraging update!

If the make up muster drill next week also takes place in the late afternoon of day 2, then there will be more time to take in Venice.

Thanks everyone for great info as we'll be on Spirit in December. We'll be in Venice the day before. What's the latest time we can check in for 11PM departure? I am hoping to stay in Venice as long as possible without having to go back and forth. Thanks

Thank you. That will give us a full day to tour Venice as we plan to leave our bags with the hotel after checking out.
