FuelScience Posted August 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Can anyone tell me what kind of plug converter I will need to purchase for scenic cruise. Any recommendations on what type to get. We need US to whatever outlet they have. Picture would be great. Thanks Karen This has been discussed a lot here, but here's a quick answer. First, from the Scenic FAQ page: On Board Electricity on board all ships is 220V. A power plug adaptor will be required to use small appliances such as electric shavers, clocks, mobile phone chargers etc. We do not provide the required adaptors. Things like computers, phones, iPads, cameras will probably just need an adapter. An adapter allows you to plug an American plug into a European outlet, but it does NOT convert the European voltage (~200V) to the American standard (~110V). Check your chargers and verify that they're dual voltage. For devices that are not dual voltage, you'll need a converter that both allows the plug-in and converts voltage. If you need a converter, verify that the power output is sufficient for the device you'll be operating. Hopefully you just need adapters. They're cheap. The link below shows a six-pack of adapters for US$7.55. Hope this helps. sunsetbeachgal Posted August 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) I brought an adapter for my IPAD and Iphone, but did not need it. The outlet in the bathroom cabinet in our cabin on the Opal worked just fine with the plug for these devices, the ones in the main cabin did not accommodate the plug. This was a good thing as I purchased my adaptor from TJ Maxx and could not for the life of me figure out how to use it. We spent a week in Switzerland precruise in various hotels and all of them had adapters you could borrow.
