Mmor08 Posted August 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Hello, Traveling with family 15 people ages 2-80! Wondering if you could give me information, tips, ideas, advice about being on the Escape over Christmas. We will be at sea on both days. What have you done to make the time special for kids and the family? Where would you recommend we reserve for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner? Does Santa typically make a visit to the ship? Thanks for your help!
Rare sid_9169 Posted August 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Never been on board on Christmas, but sailed a couple of weeks before last year. They did have decorations all over the ship and a giant gingerbread house outside of Le Bistro...
Rare www3traveler Posted August 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2016 Hello, Traveling with family 15 people ages 2-80! What have you done to make the time special for kids and the family? Where would you recommend we reserve for Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner? Does Santa typically make a visit to the ship? Thanks for your help! I was on The Getaway over Christmas last year. YES, Santa Claus will make an appearance. I traveled as a Senior Solo passenger so cannot to special children's activities, but I would imagine there will be lots. If you are all going to eat together on any night of the cruise, you will need reservations. The ship will be decorated, with more than one gingerbread village on display. Last year on The Getaway, the Senior Hotel Officers went through the ship singing Christmas Carols and led singing in the lobby. It was so much fun I am going back again this year and taking friends with me.
bravestwj Posted August 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I've done 2 Christmas cruises. Santa was on each of them with presents for the kids. You will have a great time.
UKLloyd Posted August 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2016 oh wow. When do they put the decorations up? We sail December 3rd. Will they all be up by then?
nets33 Posted August 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) oh wow. When do they put the decorations up? We sail December 3rd. Will they all be up by then? I was on a Thanksgiving cruise and Christmas decorations were already up for that cruise. Did Christmas and New Years cruise on the Pearl a few years ago. There were many holiday activities that were going on all around the ship. I remember a few afternoon/evenings where they had caroling, reading of christmas stories and Santa. I recall seeing Santa on a few occasions during the cruise. He even made a few strolls around the pool deck gathering quite a crowd of kids. CruisinForeverYoung Posted August 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2016 I will actually be going on a Christmas cruise this year on the Jade and it's only 7 of us but we decided to have some fun with the presents this year and are doing a secret santa and white elephant. Age range for my family is from 17-70. We are so excited to be on a cruise for the holiday since we've only done over Thanksgiving.
Rare conandrob240 Posted August 24, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2016 I can't wait until my sisters' kids are older so we can do this and escape the torture of splitting the day between the exes and all the ugliness that brings. Sounds like a great time!
