Taking drinks on board

This will be our first PO cruise....looking at World Cruise for Jan 2018.

Would one of you experienced PO'ers please clarify the drinks policy for me.

Am I right in understanding that we can take on board on departure, and bring back with us from shore visits both a reasonable amount of alcoholic and soft drinks to be drunk only in our cabin and that there in no charge made by the ship for this. Do they define what they consider reasonable.

Obviously drinks in the bar and restaurants would be charged to our on board account in the usual way. Do these drinks attract a service charge or is the £5.50 pppd the only tips to be paid plus any further you wish to make directly to crew.

You may take drinks on board at embarkation and from ports. The website says ' reasonable' which you will have to interpret. A couple of bottles, a half dozen cans, a wine box ... who knows? I've never heard of any confiscation but perhaps there has been?

There are no service charges on drinks in bars or restaurants
