I said I would never cruise again!

We went on the Truimph on 11/1/03. I felt really contained on the sailing, I think because it was a 7 day only 3 ports and I am a constant doer.

I also almost got into a fist fight with a lady and her family in the laundry area.

I am going on my second cruise with some different friends this time, that love to party so I am hoping we have a great time.

Did anybody feel this way about thier first cruise. As time past all the little stuff didn't matter and all that started to matter was the beauty of the ocean?

NO.

I could sail on a 7 day cruise with no ports. I cruise for the ship, the activities, and the people I meet. And if I choose to do nothing, that's on board too.

If it's ports you're looking for, why not go directly there?

There are some ports I enjoy very much especially if we are doing something like snorkeling or a sting ray swim. Otherwise sitting in a tour bus and looking at buildings and ruins is not my cup of tea.

I am a very happy boy on sea days :) :) , Explore the ship, meet nice people , eat , have a few drinks, jump in the pool, lay out in the sun. take a nap , get ready for dinner and the show , go to the casino

Everyday of my life should be so perfect :)

I echo Mr. Pete's sentiments. I cruise for the wonderful ocean breezes and the constant sunshine, and simply being on the ocean. I love it when all I can see is water. The ports are merely a diversion. I've been to many islands on land trips, and that's probably what people who don't really care for the sea days should do.

However, hope this voyage is better than your last.

Nice.

To be honest, if you didn't like cruising because you were clausterphobic and could not find enough activities, I think you are going to run into the same problems on another cruise.

My sentiments exactly! (Well, except for the "happy boy" part....change that to "happy girl" and you get the picture! :D )

Lydia -

I like to keep busy too and 3 ports are not enough for me. Try to book a cruise with 4 ports - The Valor or Miracle and I think the Legend from NYC... We did RCCL Adventure of the Seas last summer and we had 5 ports! That was just a tad too busy for me. I think 2 sea days is just about right for those among us who like to go, go, go.

Sea days, port days it makes no difference to me. I love being on the water. I love the sun, and the sea breeze. Spending the day up on deck with a good book and a steady stream of rum drinks is as good as spending a day walking through exotic markets verbally sparing with vendors.

To each his own but I just can't imagine hating a cruise. I'm glad you are giving it another try though. Hopefully this one will suit you better.

I thought I would give it another try, we are on a 6 day with 3 ports, I think that would be better. I will not do my own laundry I will have it laundered by my steward.

I love the water and now that I know the ins and outs, I think this will be a better and hopefully wonderful cruise.

I have had run ins with idiots like the family you had in the laundry room at the grocery store here at home........I still grocery shop.

I have had run ins with them at the mall.......I still go to the mall

I have had run ins with them at the movies.....I still go to the movies

I have had run ins with them at restaurants ........ I still go out to eat

If I stopped going places because of run ins with idiots , I would be sitting in my room looking at 4 walls

I will be damned if I would let that make me stop cruiseing :)

Hope the next cruise is a blast and gets you into the "Addiction" *LOL*

Enjoy:)

I like the sea days the best. The ports are just an interruption. The only exception was on the Disney Cruise on of their stops was their private island (Castaway Cay). It had all the things you may want to do: Adults only beach, Teen beach, family beach, watersports, jet skis, parasailing, biking, hiking, hammocks, open-air massages...you name it. All without the "locals" touting their wares that you find in most ports. I wish Carnival had something similar.

It has not stopped me from cruising because I'm going on a cruise in 49 days. I am not going to allow those circumstances stop me from having fun..

i think the more ports, knowing what to expect and not doing mu own laundry will definatley help.;)

Never have I felt confined on a ship or felt like there was not enough to do for this "constant do-er" - That is what I LOVE about cruises and what works well for us as a family and for people that we have vacationed with. If you want to be running around doing things - you can! God knows that there is always SOME activity to go to/participate in (sometimes I find that I can't fit in everything that I would like to do). But, then sometimes it is just nice to sit and veg out in the sun...doing nothing (only for a little bit, not the whole day).

I have always been a little leary of trying an all-inclusive resort type vacation - that, I think would make me feel confined! I love waking up in the morning on cruise ships and being in different countries! The movement of the ship...

Look through some of these threads for some Carnival Capers for your ship/trip and plan ahead for some activities that you may want to participate in.

Also - don't forget to check out the Piano Bar at night!! That is a BLAST! That is one of the best places to be at night if you want to have fun!!!

*And for God's sake - Do not do laundry on your vacation!! I think that that is very wrong - it may be even against the rules somewhere - check the fine print!! Bring enough clothes so you don't have to do any!!

Enjoy your upcoming cruise!!

Exactly!

The only negative I had on my first cruise was having to get off at the end.

I am just a constant doer and it's in my blood. Kinda of like the depression era folk who spend very little, I must always be doing something. It's my heritage and the way I was raised.

The fight in the laundry happened like this:

Went down and put in a load of stuff in the washer came back 10 minutes early to avoid holding up the washer and waited for my clothes to be finished put in the quarters and started the dryer.

Came back also early about 15 minutes later ( in the attempts to take out the clothes early so I could hang dry the rest of the way, it was a small load only panties and bras) when I returned my items were on the floor and someone elses items were in the dryer on my dime.

So I waited there to see who would come back to claim the clothes and when the women came back I confronted her on the theft and she started to want to fight me.

She also admitted that she was in law enforcement! A cop, well I was not going to allow her to treat me the way she was so she wanted to fight. I got her in her face and told her to step back away from me before I lost my cool. My hubby walked in and stpped the almost fight. Then when we were collecting our things she ran down the hall and got other family members to start harassing us.

When I told one of the family members that he and his family would never forget this incident because I never would because IRS agents have the best memories in the world, they said, "you work for the IRS?' I said, yes, I am an auditor!" They looked at each other, turned around and almost ran down the hall.

I hate mean people!

They deserved that IRS comment. Jerks :D

Yep......A very good point.

Or some of the Sothern Carib. cruises are in a port almost every day.

I loved those islands....but it was too many ports for me.
