Priority boarding

Sounds like the OP purchased a suite, which gets priority boarding, and booked an interior. For whatever reason she divided the adults and only one adult is listed as a suite occupant. She would like to keep the family together when boarding.

I don't know the answer to your dilemma. Rules state that only suite occupants and their minor children can board with them....so it seems the husband is the odd man out. Will they let you all board together...all the OP can do is ask. If the check-in people say no then it would sound reasonable for everyone that gets priority embarkation to just wait until the husband's number is called.

Have I over-simplified this?

Nope. You could hang back and board with him, though (and your 18 year old is considered an adult).

BTW, you didn't need to book an adult in each room. Just for future reference.

Unless they booked each cabin adult/child avoid buying two Cheers packages when only one wants it.

Can you move your husband and younger child to the suite and keep the 18 year old in the interior? Then after you board, have the younger child switched to the interior.

No experience with suites so idk if they hold three people?

The captain suite sleeps 5. Has to be under my name Bc of my vifp #. (I have all the points) when I called the lady who was helping me made me believe that I had to have adult w my 12yo. I'm going to call and I will post after. I'm not so worried about cheers program Bc I play quite a bit in casino so I can at least drink there for free. And I posted earlier but no one answered, I thought priority gets you on earlier or no? Last time we had fftf and it was very quick. After waking up @ 5 dropping dogs off to boarders and driving 2 hours I was thankful it was so quick Bc my kids were about to explode w excitement. (And we all had to go to the bathroom!! ) good times!

On most occasions, guests board the ship in the following order:

Special functions

VIFP Platinum, Diamond, Milestone and Suite guests

Faster to the Fun guests

Premier Casino guests

Special Assistance guests

Assigned Zones

General Boarding (straight from check-in to boarding)

I answered to stay back with the rest of your party....that wasn't nice? You FEEL your family should get priority boarding with you, that's your opinion. Carnival disagrees....I am not being "snarky" I am being direct and just saying it is what it is. So you apparently stayed back and boarded together for the experience (again, not being sarcastic but you are enjoying a cruise with your family. I don't get the "experience" of walking up a gangplank as a big deal, but I guess some people do so more power to you). Net/Net, it all worked out. I hope you had a good time

If I said family, I apologize. It actually is a big deal to some because a lot of people think they are getting on a "boat". When you walk into the atrium, most people who have not cruised are in awe and yes...it is important for me to see.

When I booked our cruise back in July, they would not let me book two rooms for myself and kids (19, 16 and 11 at time of travel). Said the 19 yo would not count as an "adult" to book a room.

It depends on where the rooms are in relation to yours. Carnival's minor policy is here https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2544/~/minor-guest-policy

Guests 12 and younger

If the relative or guardian insists on booking separate staterooms, minors must either be directly across the hall or next door. Guests 12 and under may not be assigned to a balcony stateroom without a relative or guardian (25 years of age or older).

Guests 13 - 17 years of age

Can be booked up to 3 staterooms away from a relative or guardian (25 years of age or older).

Guests 18 – 20 years of age

Do not have any restrictions and may book whatever location they prefer.

Got it! Just got off the phone w carnival and got them to switch my hubby to the suite so it's good for all, if I didn't move their room last week I would've been screwed. Got lucky it was directly across the hall (paid an extra $80 to have them moved from deck 1 to Lido deck) but it worked out! Thanks for the input. I appreciate everyone for taking out the time to respond to my posts. It helps a lot Bc those FAQS don't always answer all of your questions!

My kids don't get vacations w their dad, I am fortunate to be able to take them past July and again this NYE. (Mostly Bc of my huge deal) I took them to Tampa for Busch garden stuff, but when they get to this age- a cruise is the perfect vacation for whole family. They were very excited to have went "out of the country" lol. So all in short, the priority boarding is just something extra nice. They will feel extra "cool". so I super thankful to have gotten it straightened out. Thanks again for everyone's insight! It helped a lot! Hopefully I'll be more of a cruise pro soon!
