troykahack Posted August 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2016 Maybe it is a IT update, not sure... looking at adding my drink packages to two cruises and both show 20% off, both PP is $44, but Oasis offers UP $46 and Serenade offers UP $49. I added to my cart and sure enough they were different as above. Is this common?
Clarea Posted August 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2016 I don't know how common it is, but RC announced a while back that beverage package pricing could vary by sailing.
kknorr0320 Posted August 31, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2016 Yep, prices for my November cruise on Harmony and my March cruise on Navigator are different daily prices. I think they're manipulating prices to get a sweet spot of sales. If they sell more ahead of time it makes it easier to stock and staff appropriately. jmckay331 Posted August 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2016 Yep, common wish it wasn't so as it would be easier to budget but hey I guess from a purely business standpoint it makes sense to increase price on ships/itineraries where customers will "willingly" pay more. I would assume rci has a database that is used to analyze buying trends and costs and that is what is used to determine pricing. It may feel arbitrary to the average person but I can guarantee numbers were crunched including monetary impact of negative customer response.
