piper Posted September 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2016 We are on the 11/9 sailing of the Zuiderdam. In Puerto Limon, does the ship dock near town and where there is shopping very close to the dock? Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted September 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2016 If you look on Google Maps, you can clearly see the docks. It is a fairly short walk. But can't answer on shopping.

piper Posted September 2, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted September 2, 2016 Thanks, Copper - not sure, but if this is the dock that the Zuiderdam uses, it is close to the town/market

take us away Posted September 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2016 Not only should you dock directly 'in town' but the market is very close and an easy walk. They have amazing wooden pieces there - check out the little wooden birds and nesting boxes that are made from about 6 different woods that CR is famous for exporting

HALrunner Posted September 2, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 2, 2016 We will also be on that sailing and are kicking around the idea of private excursion that includes a canal float, and a few other highlights. Check out our roll call:) Thanks for the tip about the carvings, TakeUsAway!
SydneyD'Augstralia Posted September 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2016 There is really not much to do in Limon, if you don't take a tour. There is a tented area with souvenirs for sale. Also, those charming little wood items that "Costa Rica is famous for exporting" are made in China. Limon is not indicative of Costa Rica. It is a dirty port town.
