Between Thanksgiving and about the 10th or 11th of December are less expensive. I booked this past January for Christmas week and New Year's Week, both have gone up in price. It is a wonderful time to sail however. Had so much fun last year over Christmas that I am going back this year.

We've had good luck booking last-minute for Christmas and/or NYE for the last few years, but every year is a little different, and it also depends where you are sailing. This year, for example, NCL is leaving us with only one ship in Europe over the winter, so that should keep prices high.

For the Caribbean, the demand is much higher, but there are also lots of cruise lines and ships serving the market. It seems to me that if you find NCL's prices too high at the moment (and I tend to agree, especially for NYE ), the only thing you can do is wait. And as always, make back-up plans in case you lose the last-minute cruise gamble.

Wanting to book a cruise for Christmas week! Anyone ever wait to last minute and got a deal? Prices are quite high right now.

Prices usually go up for holiday weeks sailing from the US. We booked almost a year in advance, and prices now are $1,000 per cabin more. I don't expect it to drop, but maybe you will get lucky.

Thanks everyone! Really want to cruise out of Tampa for convience and only one option for Christmas that works for us... The jade,,will continue to watch and think we will do last minute.. Fingers crossed for a deal.

For Christmas 2016 you are already past last minute. If you really want that cruise you need to book really soon or risk not getting on. In addition those cruises always sail over full so don't expect prices to drop, but you can almost count on them going up.
