mtn_couple Posted September 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2016 Has anyone used Celebrity's new Xcelerate wifi? Curious how fast it is now?
jollyrhino Posted September 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2016 It's "OK", a bit slow. I was able to do email and surf the web, but watching videos was painful.
DZalumni Posted September 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Used it this April /May when in western med. Other couple we were with was able to FaceTime w/kids each night. Hubs was able to use t-mobile wifi calling to attend board meeting for non profit he's president of. Streaming /videos was a bit painful, but email, social media no problems. Phone calls on wifi call enabled devices. We're pretty happy w/it overall. Not 4g, but not dial up. Lol
notjaded Posted September 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Just used the standard wifi on board that I purchased for the entire cruise. It was the best wifi experience I have had on any cruiseline. I was able to Skype call (by voice) without any problem.
suspaul Posted September 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Just returned Saturday from Scandinavia & Russia on the Silhouette, the wifi was excellent, never had a connection issue and could even SKYPE family at home daily, which was a first! Also able to download our photos into Shutterfly in a flash. Sent from my iPad using Forums
absolutboy20 Posted September 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Has anyone used Celebrity's new Xcelerate wifi? Curious how fast it is now? On the August 2016 Equinox sailing in the Mediterranean the download speeds ranged anywhere from 800KB to 2MB, and the upload maxed out at about 800KB. Is it faster than the previous system? Yes. Is it fast like DSL or cable internet that you have at your house? No. The biggest plus was that the connection was stable, and didn't require multiple attempts to log in/out where you waste minutes if you are on a per minute plan. mtn_couple Posted September 7, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Great thanks everyone. I'll need to be in touch with my business and was hoping it wouldnt be as painful and take as much time as previous. Sounds positive.
