amd1234 Posted September 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2016 We received some great deals with Avalon. Checking out the itinerary's. We have cruised Danube, Rhine, Paris and Normandy. Air fare is included in quoted price. We have not visited Brussells and Holland. This itinerary starts in Namur and takes in the cities of Ghent, Antwerp, Rottendam. Not familiar with any of these cities. Please need some feedback of this itinerary. We are looking at last week in May... Thx...
Rare notamermaid Posted September 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2016 Hello amd1234, this was a new itinerary for Avalon this year and I assume there has not been much feedback on this. I started a thread on the river Meuse somewhere here on CC a few months ago. It is one of the rivers on this itinerary. Namur has great landscape and I would like to visit it soon (have only been close to it so far). You can read a little on it here: http://www.visitbelgium.com/index.php?page=namur notamermaid

rondl1 Posted April 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2017 We are on the May 7 Departure going from Brussels to Amsterdam and can't wait. After over 30 Ocean cruises this will be our first River cruise. Only hoping that the tulips stay just a little longer for us. Still planning our extra two days in Amsterdam and have no idea where to start. We just found out we missed tickets to the Anne Frank house. Also trying to decide if we are going to stay at the same hotel that Avalon has for us the last night (Double Tree by Hilton Amsterdam CentralStation) or if we are going to another hotel. Best price we found was $400/night and there are a lot more that are less. Open to suggestions on this. And anything else.
Rare Ritabob Posted April 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2017 If you would like to save a bit of money, look at hotels near the Sloterdijk station. This is one train stop away from centraal station going in the direction of the airport. It has metro, bus and tram stops. Easy to get anywhere. Rare franski Posted April 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2017 We are going in the opposite direction.... arriving in Amsterdam on May 20th. Not our 1st cruise with Avalon. We were intrigued by the new itinerary - plus the great deal they were offering. Expecting our documents to arrive shortly - so we can confirm which hotel we are staying in... not long now!!
