TIA Sorry :o forgot to add that it needs to be close enough to walk to the cruise terminal. Thanks
mjkacmom Posted September 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Manhattan is the island, one of the five boroughs that make up NYC. Any reason why you need to be within walking distance?
138east Posted September 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Comfort Inn Midtown West, Holiday Inn Express Manhattan West Side, Skyline Hotel, and Kimpton Ink48. https://www.hotels.com/de1767568/hotels-near-manhattan-cruise-terminal-new-york-united-states-of-america/ Just curious as to why you have to be within walking distance of the pier. If you're going to pay Mahattan hotel prices anyway, it's nice to look for a better hotel deal in midtown Manhattan so you're in an interesting location and pay the $15 cab fare to get dropped off on 12th Ave across the street from the pier. Midtown Manhattan is all about location and IMO the hotel's listed above don't score well.
Post Captain Posted September 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2016 The Kimpton Ink48, Comfort Inn Midtown West, and Holiday Inn Express Midtown West, listed by Carol, are all clustered together just a block or so from the piers. Of those, the Kimpton would be the most upscale. However, the immediate neighborhood is rather charmless, to say the least, consisting mainly of large automobile showrooms and the blank facades of semi-industrial buildings, warehouses, and garages--not "tourist New York" at all. A few blocks further to the east, just over a half mile from the piers, are the Belvedere and the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. These might be a good compromise if you want to be closer to midtown (and close to subway and buses if you plan to do any sightseeing in Manhattan the day before your cruise) but still within walking distance of the piers. Of course, the term "walking distance" means different things to different people. I do lots of walking in Manhattan and elsewhere, and think nothing of walking four or five miles at a time when I'm not encumbered by luggage, and when the weather's decent. Your mileage may vary, as the saying goes--especially on a 95-degree summer's day with 100% humidity or on a cold, windy, rainy/snowy day (possible from late autumn through early spring).
