beachbum64 Posted September 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Planning a spur of the moment girls-cruise to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel in just 3 weeks, Not much time to save for excursions. We have never been to Belize or Roatan and need some inexpensive beach trips. Is there a beach we can walk to from port or take a taxi? Any areas we need to stay away from? Please help!! Rare crewsweeper Posted September 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) The only beach close to the cruise port/tender pier on the mainland is cucumber Beach in Old Belize. You can't walk there. Need a taxi. 15 minute ride. http://www.oldbelize.com/beach/ Best beach type excursions are the snorkeling excursions to the cayes. But they may be on the expensive side, if you use the ship excursions. See he threads here on Caye Caulker. Reasonably inexpensive water taxi ride. You can walk around or go to the beach there. Also horse drawn carriages outside the tender pier provide an interesting low cost city tour. Contact Reggies tours for a tour to Altun Ha if you're interested in maya ruins. Reggie and also David of Cavetubing R us have reasonable cave tubing excursions that are just cave tubing . http://www.regtourbz.com/ http://www.cavetubingrus.com/ For Roatan, With 4 or more you can get a nice island tour or zipline beach tour with either Victor Bodden or Rony's Tours for $25-$30 per person. It's around $45 + for less than 4. http://boddentours.com/ http://ronystours.com/ Or if you want a nice beach with shore snorkeling and transportation to and from the port, check out Bananrama or Beachers packages. both are on the West Bay beach which is a very nice beach. http://bananarama.com/ http://www.beachersroatan.com/ Edited September 25, 2016 by crewsweeper
beachbum64 Posted September 25, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Thank you crewsweeper! Appreciate the info. Can we trust the excursion vendors outside the port in Belize? I have never traveled without my husband and was a little worried going there with just girls. Thought they may have a boat ride to an island fairly cheap. If not we will give Cucumber Beach a try. Rare crewsweeper Posted September 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Most of the horse carriage folks are friendly and wish to show you their city. But look up the water taxi to Caye Caulker. You can have a nice couple of hours there between taxis. Just be aware of the time difference. Take the earliest one back in the afternoon. OCruisers Posted September 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Planning a spur of the moment girls-cruise to Belize, Roatan and Cozumel in just 3 weeks, Not much time to save for excursions. Think you're on a Carnival Cruise so Roatan is easy. Your ship will dock at Mahogany Bay. There's a beach in the terminal area which is free for your use and the beach chairs are as well. :) In Belize you really do need to take some sort of excursion to one of their barrier islands to get to a decent beach. It would be very well worth your money to do this. Enjoy your "girls getaway"! :D
