Cheers Package Question

I'm hoping someone can help me with this question since my PVP is having a baby and I didn't want to talk someone new about our booking;)

We have 2 cabins, with 2 adults each, booked for a Christmas cruise on the Conquest; Since my husband and I are platinum we booked in separate cabins so that our daughter and her friend can board at the same time as us. We usually go to Guest Services upon boarding and switch rooms with no issue.

My daughter's friend is booked with me and would like to do the Cheers package which we've never done. If we purchase before we board it's cheaper and I'm the one in the same cabin so I would have to purchase it as well, however, once she switches cabins with my husband then what? Will he now have Cheers because it's per cabin or will her package follow her to the other cabin?

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for any help:D

Thank you for your responses...we didn't realize all 4 of us would have to purchase the Cheers package, we just thought it was the adults in the same cabin and our issue was the only one who truly wants the Cheers package is the same one that's switching cabins.

Since our credit cards are hooked to our sail n sign cards, I'm not sure that would work for us. I think we're going to have to tell her no Cheers for her this time. Thanks again:D

No you don't all four have to buy it - just the two in one cabin.

I think the first response may have not understood you have 2 cabins. Only the 2 adults in one cabin have to buy Cheers. Once you 2 buy it, rearrange your sleeping when you get on board.

You cannot, however share you cheers with un-cheery partner. He can drink his beer while watching you try fancy martinis lol.

How can this be enforced, especially if I am allowed to walk about the ship with alcohol in hand?

I was thinking about getting Cheers and sharing my up-to-15 drinks/day with a person who is clearly over 21 who is not in my cabin. I will be bunking with a teen on the soda-pop plan.

If I walk out of a bar area, nobody in the next room is going to be watching my hands and her hands enough to see her drinking a drink I obtained from the alchemist then handed her.

Believe me the folks on the cruise lines have seen it all - if you have a pattern of buying 2 drinks in 1o minutes at different bars and then not buying for an hour or so and this happens alot then you may get nailed. Is it really worth all the sneaking around ?

I did understand it but it sound like all but one wanted to buy it. But then they clarified and said ONLY one wants it. Well there's no way only one can buy it if there's 2 adults in both cabins.

One cabin will have to get it at least. Then they can just get extra keys and sleep how they wish.

The rules say no sharing but no, nobody will be hawking you around following you. If you choose to break the rules then hopefully you won't get caught. This is just one reason why they require every adult in the cabin to buy it. Something I could totally agree with IF they had more than one package option.

you're the exact reason why everyone in the cabin must purchase it

if youre caught they will revoke it and not give you a refund and make you pay for the drinks you drank individually

My husband and I both got the Cheers! just returned 9/17/16. I LOVED the specialty coffees, and upscale drinks due to the new limit. You can even go to the Steakhouse and sit at the bar and have more premium drinks. One night, he and I had different places we wanted to go. I hooked up with a woman that was cruising with family, and she was also out on her own. We started at the casino, then went to a show, and when I saw she was paying by the drink, I ordered her drinks from my Cheers! No comments were ever made, and she enjoyed several drinks for free, and I still had plenty left to enjoy myself. I don't feel this is sneaky. I got sick from something Carnival related from an excursion and didn't get drinks for 2 whole days. So, doubt, Carnival lost any money on me buying someone a few drinks.:)

One issue, you really can not order "drinks", only one at a time at 5 minute intervals. The other issue it's just not right

The sticker and cheers package are associated with the person's sign and sail ID. It's not just a room key. Not to mention that there is a picture on it for identification purposes.

I had a similar issue. 4 adults and two kiddos between rooms. I wanted the package and no one else did. So, I booked with kids and my hubby booked in second room. We arranged sleeping how we wanted. it was the only way we could get just one cheers package. No, there was no sharing. Just didn't want to pay for 2 people when one wasn't drinking.

However, using the package for non alcoholic beverages isn't a bad deal if you can afford it. Aside from virgin frozen slushy drinks that are super good on warm days by the pool you get a ton of other stuff. There is soda, no biggie. But you can also get milkshakes, fancy coffees, bottles of water, flavored teas, PowerAde etc.

Although it isn't as good a value if you don't drink booze you still have access to plenty more. A couple nice coffees for breakfast, milkshake mid day, some PowerAde's or soda at other times and it does add up to some savings. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Great! Thank you for the clarification, I like that much better;) And I totally understand about not sharing with the "un-cheery" partner, actually, our issue is who was going to take the financial hit to accommodate her because we have yet to have a sail n sign bill that justifies the purchase of this package for us, but ordering without regard to cost and unlimited specialty coffees make it appealing :D

Purchase online (cheaper) for the two of you in your room then as soon as you get on go switch rooms. You don't need extra keys, they'll just swap you around on same card. We've done this many times just because me and the Mrs get better room rates, so we each book one and then switch the family around when on board. Then go up to one of the bars and get your "cheers" sticker for your card and enjoy!

Do either of your rooms hold 3 pax? Assuming that the friend is old enough to purchase Cheers, then she's old enough to have her "own" room. Could you book her into a room and you and your husband and daughter into another room? She'd lose the early boarding perk, but it's something to consider.

She would also have to pay double other than taxes and Port fees. Cheers isn't worth paying twice as much for a cabin.

The friend would be stuck paying the single supplement.

I think it is worth the effort, because $350 is a lot of money for alcohol for a week, and $700 is beyond many people's means. An alternative is that I carry on a big shampoo filled with ____.

I have been on Royal Caribbean and Princess cruises. I will soon be taking my first Carnival cruise, which I chose because I want to partake in a more party-like atmosphere.

$350 is more than a month's worth of groceries for my family. The reality is I would be quite happy bringing my own $20 1.75 liter of rum, which would keep me happy all week. Obviously that is not allowed. So if Carnival want to sell me 10 to 15 drinks in a day at a fixed price, what business is it of theirs whose liver those drinks go through, as long as everyone is legal 21 and nobody is dangerously overserved? Actually, having 2 livers do the metabolizing help with that latter part, which is one of Carnivals stated concerns.

I really doubt that Carnival has anyone on the ship doing "pattern analysis" on beverage purchase data in real time.

I think the correct answer is if you can't afford $350 for alcohol for a week, drink what you can afford. It's silly to suggest stealing isn't wrong if you can't afford to pay.

Carnival has determined that offering a flat fee for alcohol is cost-effective, but only when the people who buy into the program don't share drinks with those who don't pay. If you want to cheat the program, go ahead. But don't fool yourself into thinking you're not doing anything wrong.
