Parking NYC

Does anyone know anything about Parking at NYC cruise Terminal? Does it fill up quickly? We need Handicap parking so just want to be prepared.

It's very convenient and I've never heard of it filling up.

There shouldn't be a concern about having no parking space at all, but there is not a lot of designated handicapped parking. You may not be able to get a handicapped space. I saw several cars with handicapped plates parked in "standard" spaces.

 

The way the parking works, though, it may not be a problem. After you enter the parking area for your ship, there is a place to pull over where you can leave your passengers and bags. The driver parks and walks back. From the furthest point in the parking lot back to the drop-off area is about the length of the Gem.

 

From there, you will take ALL of your bags (carry-on and checked) and get into a large freight elevator which takes you down to the check-in level. When you get off the elevator, the drop-off for your checked bags and the entrance to the check-in desk are right there, so not a lot of walking, except for the driver.

You can also drop your bags off on the lower level first and drive around again to the upper parking level. Then you just have to handle your carry ons.

 

Driving around the couple blocks could take 15-20 minutes with traffic.
