ABoatNerd Posted October 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2016 A good day: I would appreciate the expertise of the folks on this board. Thank you in advance! We are considering our first Oceania cruise - specifically the Viking Lands cruise next Sept 12, 2017. Question - What side of the ship should we book our stateroom on to get the best vistas? The ports are Copenhagen, Helsinki, St. P, Stockham, Skagen, Oslo Your guidance would be welcomed. ABoatNerd
Rare LHT28 Posted October 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2016 the best views are up on deck but if you want to sit in your cabin then maybe the fore & aft cabins would be better
Rare pinotlover Posted October 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2016 Don't believe it matters much, one way or the other. The starboard side probably has the best views while in port in several of the cities. This is because the docking areas utilized are often very commercial areas and the starboard side seems to look away from those areas instead of toward them. You must realize that the ship is rarely within sight of land while sailing in the Baltic. An exception is the 3-4 hour sail up through the isles when approaching Stockholm. This is by far the most beautiful part of the sail and well worth getting up a 3:00 a.m. to see, if it's still light at that time of year. Otherwise, doesn't really matter. I would personally be up in Horizons for the departure from Stockholm to get the great view, and not in my suite!
