nikinakinoo Posted October 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Hi All We are coming into MIA from London in April, does anybody have any experience of the immigration clearance and a rough guidance on the time it will take to get through. Our pre-night cruise stay is in FLL and we are arranging our airport transfers, there are 7 of in total so looking at a private shuttle, but we are not sure what time to put as a pick up time on the inquiry form. Obviously we don't want the driver having to wait for us Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted October 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Set the time for an hour after your scheduled landing. The company will wait if you go beyond that. Or you might have to wait a minute or two for the transport. But they will probably get there a little early.
AlanFromFL Posted October 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2016 MIA isn't exactly renown for speed of entry thru customs & immigration...depending on the time of day, you could easily spend an hour or more. So allow for at least 1 to 1.5 hours.
philip_eunice1 Posted October 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Heads up for the future If u fly out of Dublin which has considerably cheaper flights to USA than London u clear customs and immigration in Dublin so when u arrive in USA it's just like arriving on a domestic flight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2016 I too would allow 60 minutes or more for pickup after you land. Keith

GizmoCat Posted October 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2016 We had a dreadful time going through there earlier this year on a flight from London. Huge queue when we got off the plane. We had to queue for ages at the "Self service" passport area which looks at your passport then prints out a bit of paper. If you have an X on yours, you have been selected at random to stand in another huge queue to then be processed by a real person. Of course one of my family was selected, and we couldn't leave him so we all had to join the queue. All in all it took at least an hour and a half. If you are lucky and don't get the X, then probably about an hour might be a reasonable guess. Decide to cruise from Port Canaveral this year instead - hopefully Orlando might be a bit better!
