Late flight out of anchorage, what do you do?

:)Hello all, looking for fellow cruisers who may have used the Princess Hospitality suite in Anchorage. Our cruise ends in Whittier and then we have a full day before we leave late at night. What do most of you do that day? We don't want to do any excursions, just relax like a travel day. Have any of you gotten a room near airport to put all your things.? I am curious what you do. We have sailed before, but we did a land tour first and ended in Vancouver not up in Anchorage. Thank you in advance.

Our land tour ended in Anchorage, so we had our hotel room till noon. I wanted to pay for an extra night, because our Flight left at 1:35 am the night of check out. The hotel room would have been $359. Too much for us. We rented a car, $65ish for the day that held all of our luggage out of sight. We then found fun things to do...shopping...tour of the city...a movie...a nice place for dinner, then headed to the airport at 11 pm. It was a nice day.

I would hang out downtown. The hospitality center is walking distance of everything downtown. There's a shuttle to our zoo that has rescues of Alaskan animals. There's a shuttle to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, which is a display of the various native Alaskan cultures. You can use WIFI and settle in in the cushy seats at the hospitality center for a rest. The Kobuk across the street has a cute gift shop and coffee. Grab a reindeer dog from a street side vendor for lunch. Explore the many gift shops. Shop at the regular mall. You can have a fabulous Alaska dinner at Glacier Brewhouse or Simon and Seaforts. Walk around and take in the views of the inlet and monuments. Have some Alaskan fireweed ice cream at the Bear Square. Take a relaxing and informative hour long trolley tour of downtown, Earthquake Park, and the famous floatplane lake. Plenty to do and see and all at your own pace!
