arkiesgirl Posted November 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Mother's , 401 Poydras is a family favorite. Check their website for the menu. It's a great lunch spot as well. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
TraciDR Posted November 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Two great recommendations!! Cafe du Monde is indeed a must, but you could do that for an afternoon snack or late night bite. Mother's is delicious as well. But the end-all, be-all breakfast in NO is at Brennan's. Here's an article by Tom Fitzmorris, who knows every single restaurant in the area :) check out the rest of the site as well. He won't steer you wrong. http://nomenu.com/?p=4678 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
George C Posted November 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2016 For another truly great place there is Brennan's where Bananas foster was invented, I really need to spend another weekend here and we haven't even started on lunch and dinner
Rare Saint Greg Posted November 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I like Mothers but prefer it for lunch (Debris po boy and jerrys jambalaya). For breakfast I'd recommend the Ruby Slipper. From Riverside you can either go down poydras and take a right on magazine...three blocks down on your right. Or go down canal and take a left on magazine...one block down on your left. http://www.therubyslippercafe.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/RS_TOGO_MENUsm.pdf

ekajun1957 Posted November 13, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2016 I like the Ruby Slipper but be ready to wait in line so get there early. It is that popular. If you going upscale yes Brennans is special. Another place in the Quarter itself is Café Fleur De Lis. http://www.cafefleurdelis.com But want true French Quarter, historic with good food, we do this every Mardi Gras day. http://www.theoldcoffeepot.com/
newistcruiseaddict Posted December 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2016 If you've never tried Ruby Slipper..I highly recommend it. We've been twice and now Pensacola has installed its own branch! We are going to check out 2 chicks cafe on this trip...It happens to be located right next to our long term parking.... not ice cream Posted December 23, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I second The Old Coffee Pot or Elizabeth's in the Bywater. http://elizabethsrestaurantnola.com/
