Just off Empress of the Seas

My wife and I just got off a very enjoyable four day cruise on the Empress of the Seas. After reading many of the negative reviews of the ship we were not expecting a lot, but the cruise was great and the crew was amazing. The food was some of the best I have had in a main dinning room. (This was cruise number 25 on RCCL; we made Diamond Plus on this cruise, and number 78 altogether).

For anyone sailing on the Empress and having My Time Dinning, we recommend asking for Clifford and Stevenson two of the best waiters we have ever had. Stevenson just left to go home on vacation but Clifford will be there awhile. We read about them on a review and took the recommendation. Glad we did!

Our Cabin attendant,Vera, was efficient and thorough. The casino host, Luis, was friendly and very knowledgeable able the Club Royal point system. Worth learning!

The shows were very good, Greg London is worth seeing, and Carlos, the cruise director keeps things very entertaining. Trivia is none stop if you're into that and lots of tvs around the ship for watching sports.

Ship is one of the oldest but lots of renovations and very clean. All in all a real bargain!

Thanks for your post, we are also sailing her next week, and have been very curious as to what others that have recently sailed had to say.

This info is very valuable, and I plan on spending a little time in the casino, as well as enjoy the first ship that my DW ever cruised on, back when it was called the Nordic Empress. I'm interested in Casino Royale also, as they've been sending us several emails that are very hard to pass up.

We'll be spending Thanksgiving on the Empress, something we've never done before, and just looking to get away for a little R and R.

Take care, and congrats on making Diamond Plus. After this cruise, we'll be 6 points away ourselves... .(but who's counting, right) LOL

Go Saints!!

Congrats on making Diamond Plus :D My sister and I will be sailing on her early in December (7 day cruise) and my sister will be awarded Diamond on that cruise. Did they do anything special? I know on other ships they do something special for those moving up... and just wondered if they do anything on the Empress. I'm looking forward to our Empress cruise.

Nothing special done for "just" Diamond and it is the same fleet wide - not just Empress. Also, you don't get the level until after the end of the cruise. I think the first thing you get during the cruise is the first glass block at 140 points.

We were on the Oasis at 140 points. I didn't know the process of how we would get the glass block, so I paid a visit to the Loyalty Ambassador half way thru the cruise. My DW wanted the block from the Oasis, and the LA was more than happy to oblige after our 140 points were verified.

Go Saints!
