Is it possible to walk from Ft. Lauderdale cruise port to the beach? Will be in port on Day 7 of a back to back cruise... If so, any idea on how long the walk would be?

is it possible? yes ... probably a 20 or 30 minute walk ... but if you are on a b2b then you might also decide to just get off the ship with others on the b2b, sit in the waiting area, then get back on the ship before most others board :)

Depends on the line I guess but our experience is there was no waiting - the consecutive cruisers are taken off the ship as a group so the ship can zero-out, and then led back on before anyone else boards, even those in suites and with high loyalty status.

OP, Port Everglades is a working, industrial pier and is not really conducive to walking in and out. If you want to go to the beach, I would definitely recommend taking a cab, where you can walk along the beach once you get there.

Enjoy your cruises. :)

It is quite a long walk out of Port Everglades and you are in a busy industrial area. Even when you get out, you may have a bit of a walk to a beach.

Definitely taxi or even Uber, which is much cheaper. We've taken Uber to and from the port several times. If you have never tried them, use this promo code, we both get $10-15 off our next ride.

Uber Promo code: 6y3g9

Why? What's the point in that?

Yes, it's possible, but it's about a 2 mile walk to the south end of the beach from 17th Street/Eisenhower port entrance. If you were in Terminal 2 where Princess usually is then it's a short, pleasant walk up to that intersection where you could catch the Sun Trolley for $1 each way or $3 for a day pass in the event you would like to go somewhere else other than the beach such as the Galleria Mall.

If you are at the back of the port, say Pier 22 I would not recommend the walk.

I am thinking of walking to the beach on our day before the cruise. From the Holiday Inn Express where we will be staying, Google maps says it is 1.9 miles. The walk would take us on the A1A road. Is that a pedestrian-friendly road? Thanks!

There are sidewalks but you may have to cross the street once you get over the Causeway.

We have walked from the HI Express at 17th to the FLL beaches and strip area. It is a hike, but doable. Total Wine store is very close!
