christinalvt Posted November 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Has anyone visited the Melia recently and can tell me what the cost for the day pass was? Thanks! Christina Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
seabeew Posted November 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2016 We called in October and they said it was $45 each. We didn't go then, but we may go next week. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

MisKaren1 Posted November 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2016 We went last week. I do not recommend it at all. The water there is really rough. The pools are nice, but dirty. Lifeguards are pretty much just taking up space if that matters (we did, brought kids). What did me in was the bathhouse/shower facility was closed. I would have just went to Junkanoo if I had known that! We felt it was a total waste of $$ ($33.25 per adult with a discount from the day pass website). Don't even think about eating or drinking there. DH got one tiny beer for $8.50 plus tip. I tried the Starbucks and it was $6 for a tall. We did have fun on the #10 on the way there. Got to see the police station and have drop off service at the Melia after we were in a fender bender. The Daquiri shack is worth the trip, and the straw market is much less aggressive with actual local craftspeople. Unlike cabbage beach, the water there is usually really calm (which my kids really complained about, they love our jersey shore pounding waves), the pools clean, and the bathhouse open. Maybe some Matthew issues?
MisKaren1 Posted November 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Might be Matthew. It just seemed really rough and disappointing. If I ever book a day pass again I will call the resort and check on the bathrooms! [emoji6][emoji4] we are used to Jersey and DE beaches so it was pretty rough. christinalvt Posted November 17, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted November 17, 2016 Thanks for the info, everyone! We decided to just stay on the far western (less crowded) side of Junkanoo, save the $45 pp, and eat at the Fish Fry instead. grammyprf Posted November 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 17, 2016 Is this the same hotel? Price stated on website $60 plus $40 food voucher. 10 min walk from ship. Thanks
christinalvt Posted November 17, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted November 17, 2016 No I was talking about the Melia, which is on Cable beach, a bus ride away. The one that's a 10 minute walk is probably the Hilton Colonial. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Ncgoirish Posted December 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2016 We went to Melia on December 13, 2016. The day pass is $45 and includes a voucher for one beverage at their Starbucks. Took the #10 jitney bus from near the cruise port terminal. $1.25 USD per person each way.
cruiseapril Posted December 22, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 22, 2016 Have been to the Melia many times (when it was the Sheraton too) and have had good experiences. Hope this experience was storm related. We never had a problem with rough seas or dirty pools. Hope folks will continue to report back on conditions there. Ahall2015 Posted December 22, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2016 We will be going to the Melia in January so I really hope this was just weather related. I will post back after we return with an update
