What to do in Belize with 2 kids? 12 & 6 yrs old

Will be on Carnival cruise Dec 26 for 8 days. One of our ports is Belize. Is there a hop on hop off tour, beach or all inclusive resort with day pass? What's your suggestions? We aren't into historical tours because of kids. Thanks

Cavetubing!!!

 

Flat out fun for kids. And adults. Unique to Belize.

 

Check out private vendors like cavetubing.bz. or Cave Tubing R Us. Lots of reviews and posts on this board.

 

Next is a snorkeling/beach excursion to one of the cayes. Ship excursions pick you up at the ship. Private vendors at the tender pier. $ may be the deciding difference.

 

No near by beaches or A.I.s in Belize City. there is a manmade beach--Cucumber Beach--in old Belize. but it's not A.I. and is typically used by locals.

There is a small water slide there, but not much else.

 

Belize City is a working city and taxi tours or city tours only hit a few museums churches, etc. No hop-on hop--off bus.

The Belize animal zoo and rescue center is excellent. It is a drive out there but we had a fabulous time, including petting the tabirs and holding a boa constrictor. We used a local, family operated tour company and he was well known at the center--knew where all the animals normally hung out.

 

In addition, you are helping with rescues such as lucky the jaguar who was rescued from a resort that had gone bankrupt and left him to starve in a metal cage. He wore his teeth down to the gums trying to chew his way out. There are all kinds of animals, birds and reptiles in natural habitats. The little cafe has good and reasonably priced food.
