Anyone back from The Dream?

Sailed on her late August/early September. The staff was amazing. As far as the ship itself, she's showing her age. She desperately needs the 2.0 upgrades. We never had a problem getting a barstool or a table anywhere. The CD was Jase, he was "meh." The DJ in the nightclub was horrible, the dance floor was empty most of the time. We had a great time, but wouldn't necessarily go out of our way to sail on her again.

She will be in drydock the end of January into the beginning of February. I would imagine she will get the 2.0 upgrades then. That should be about the time I get my vacation time approved for next year so I will be following the drydock news because Dream is the top of my list for next fall's cruise!

Who is the cruise director? I haven't used CC for a long time so I hope I'm doing this right

Jase. He has a facebook page called cruzinwithjase where he provides a bit of info for the cruise and collects photos.

His music trivia games were wonderful and a lot of fun. Motown Trivia, 90s trivia, 80s trivia...check your funtimes and don't miss them.

How hard was it to get a table in the buffet area for breakfast and lunch?

On Sea Days, were there chairs available on the outside decks?

Did you enjoy the cruise?

Thanks in advance.

When we were on the dream, using chairs on The lido was very difficult. If you want a really good chair by the pool, get there by 7 AM on the first or second day. Chair hogs are a real problem

Thanks to everyone that provided information. Because of the feedback we have booked and paid for a cruise on February 19. Cove Balcony. Will be the second cruise after dry dock so the ship should seem brand new.

Thanks again... and hope to help future cruisers after we get back.

Here's a copy of the Shore Excursion brochure from our Christmas cruise on the Dream. When you've booked, these are available on the Carnival website under your booking, but I found it really handy to have these all laid out in one document.

Carnival Dream Excursion Brochure, Christmas 2016 Sailing

This will likely change for future cruises, but you can get an idea of what was available.

So now that we see you are going here is some observations on the items you mentioned. We sailed Dec. 11 through 18. Did not have problems finding tables except right at a peak time but not like we were standing holding plates, just had to walk around and look a bit. As a note if it is not removed at dry dock the Pasta Bella was never full and never took long. It is above the buffet on Deck 11. There is a stairway behind the very rear dessert bar in the buffet. Good food when we ate there few times. There was most always a few chairs open at the pool and very few if any chair hogs.

Most notable thing to us is MDR takes longer to finish now than in the past. Most everyone we talked to had one night when it was worse but not like terrible. With reduced staff when they fall behind its hard to catch back up.

Actually I kind of liked the slow pace in the dining room as we were a large group and had fun with the leisurely pace. Although slower our food was never cold from sitting around.

Sea Day breakfast/brunch never took long to get seated. Steak House was well worth the price the one night we went.

We had robes when we got to our rooms but some of the group had to ask for them.

If you want to know more write me or ask on here I follow this regular

We also were on the December 11, Cruise. I agree you could tell that there were less waiters and servers all around the ship. The lido deck food and the gathering food place was a little over populated at times. The worst part was trying to get into the comedy club. Finally managed to get in the last sea night. Worth the wait but we were to the early show. Love Jace. He was super with my 77 year old dad and made the cruise great. There was a difference in people in general compared the the new years eve cruise the year befre. More casual atmospere...A few more stupid drunks but I have fun and never meet a stranger so it was all good. We smoke and the casino was the only indoor place on the whole boat to go. Unless you stayed up past ten and went into the club. I think if they had one more inside place all the smokers would not stay in the casino. Would help out the non smokers. Yes I have a heart. My dad does not smoke. First time since the change of the food. I liked it way better before they changed it to the american table. But that is just me. I am a sweet a holic and on the lido the sweets were bland. Now in the mdr they were amazing as always. Zuzana was our MDR waitress and She is so special. She had been working on cruise ships since she was 18 and told us she might go on back home. Sh was over 30. All in all the stewards were great... Dream needs a bit of cleaning but that will happen in dry dock. Going again Dec 11, 2017
