BTW - if you wish to climb the tower, make sure to reserve in advance. http://www.opapisa.it/en/tickets/buy/ Edited December 6, 2016 by dogs4fun

Lucca is our favorite destination in Italy, with a wall surrounding the ancient town that you can ride bikes on to of.

Casey2 Posted February 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Make sure in advance that you can actually climb the tower if that is what you want to do. Both times we were there, the tower was closed for renovations.
SuiteTraveler Posted February 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2017 I actually enjoyed the cathedral, baptistry and graveyard there near the leaning tower - the incorruptibles were interesting to research and I also liked the art - some real masterpieces that many overlook in their rush to get to the leaning tower. cruiseluv Posted February 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2017 As SuiteTraveler recommends, there's much to see in Pisa. I love Lucca, but I feel often Pisa gets a bum rap, its not just about the leaning tower. There're people that do both in one day, it depends how hurried you want to be. If going to Pisa for you its a highlight, then make that your focus and forget about Lucca.
