RHilla619 Posted December 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2016 Hi all, I am sailing the Vista next August and looking for a little bit of advice. Flights into/out of Ft Lauderdale Airport (FLL) are significantly cheaper than Miami Airport, so I am leaning towards flying from there. However my question is what time is the earliest "safe" flight time out of there if debarking in Miami? The Vista docks at 8am in Miami, and I am looking into a 1:30pm flight home out of FLL, is that cutting it too close? Figure if I am in the lobby at 8am and self-assist, worst case scenario I'm off the boat and through customs by 10am, then even if the 30minute ride to FLL turns into an hour I'm still there 2.5 hours before the flight. I know I kind of just answered my own question, but just seeking a second opinion from those who have done the Miami cruise port -> FLL route before. Thanks! debster11 Posted December 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2016 That should be enough time. We did it with a 1:00 flight out of FLL and made it with plenty of time. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We have booked 11:30 flights when we sailed from Miami and flew into/out of FLL. (I think we've done this route six or seven times already.) We pre-booked SAS Shuttle (ridesas.com) for $15 pp.

beerman2 Posted December 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2016 1:30 is fine! It's about 45 minutes to FLL from Port of Miami. We did self debakation at we were at FLL by 9:15 in Oct.
RHilla619 Posted December 9, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Thank you all for the positive replies, gonna give it a go! Thank you stargate for the shuttle recommendation, will most likely use that to get back to FLL.
sjb.illinois Posted December 9, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2016 130 should be just fine. Ours are usually a bit later, but we could have easily made a 130. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
sjb.illinois Posted December 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Also, FWIW, depending on how many in your party, can just get a rental car and drive, often for less than the cost of the shuttle. We usually send my husband off to get the car (he does self disembark) while we get the bags and clear customs. Then we have the freedom to stop for lunch etc. if we want. jh2360 Posted December 9, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) Living in Broward County and cruising a fair amount, I can say you will have no problem making a 1:30pm flight. Barring any catastrophe, I've been back in my home, which is north of FLL, before 10am. stargate fan Posted December 10, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2016 What time did you set up with sas for pick up from Miami ? We didn't need to set up a pick up time because we were instructed to call the number in the reservation confirmation when we retrieved our luggage. We were told where to meet the driver and sure enough we were on our way to the airport in five minutes. Most times the driver called us when the ship started debarkation and asked us to call back when we had our luggage.
