Michelle1967 Posted December 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2016 My husband and I boarded the ship on 1st Dec 2016, was looking forward a great holiday but to our disappointment disaster happened. Before I go any further I would like to pass a comment to the food on board, I would rate it quite a same standard food found at a 3-star hotel. Food/ Menu is across the board, 3 serving places; 2 major restaurants on level 5 and a self-service buffet style on level 11, all restaurant serve the same menu. So it doesn't matter where you take your meal at, they are all the same, mass prepared. Coming to my disappointment, my hubby got an accident at the disco and had a broken arm, it was partly due to the place were far too dark. He felt by his own at no one fault. This incident took place on 3rd Dec at about 12am. We first approached the front desk for help and were escorted to the medic division. A nurse attended to us shortly, before the arrival of the doctor, the nurse told us there would be a charge of USD $130+ as consultation fee and asked if we want to proceed? Obviously, we don't have a choice and we agreed on that. Thereafter she keeps informing us there would be charges to medicine apply, bandage, injection.. blah blah...at least 4 times. After short inspection by the doctor, he confirmed it's was fractured, they splint (like a cast) up my husband's arm. We left with a bill at USD350+. The next day after we sign off a de responsibility form then we got off at Phuket, (being the first stop spot) and flew back to Singapore. At the SGH emergency, doctor told us the first aid rendered has no purpose at all. The fractured spot needs a full backing all the way starts from the shoulder. I urge the costa management team to look into more responsive action towards first aid. My poor hubby was struggling with great pain at the cabinet, he can’t sit nor lay down properly and no one could give me any advices on how to take care of him that night. Sorry to hear that your husband had an accident and fractured his arm and you had to leave the cruise early. Remember -- cruise ships aren't able to be run like an emergency room or hospital. We have seen many people who have had to be evacuated by helicopter for various reasons. And we have also seen ambulances meeting the ships in various ports when possible.
