Documentation for one year old?

This is probably a silly question but I don't want to get turned away at the port. We got a passport for my one year old but is there any reason I would need to also have his birth certificate? Thanks!

Are both parents travelling ? otherwise you might need some documentation from the other parent allowing travel.

If you have the passport, you need nothing else for any child under 16. No "photo" id needed. If you have no passport, the BC is all that's needed.

Both parents are traveling, and we all have the same last name. Just wanted to make sure we wouldn't need the birth certificate to prove he is our son. When I flew with him by myself across the country I was really surprised I didn't need his birth certificate or anything to show that he was my son, it actually really bothers me that they don't require it.
