jojokay Posted January 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2017 We want to stay a couple days post-cruise. I am not familiar with the city. We want to book a hotel in Fort Lauderdale that has plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Many cruisers stay in the Convention Center area (often referred to as 17th Street). There is a large shopping area (Harbor Plaza) nearby and MANY good places to dine. If you are into wine, Total Wine is a great place to shop (in Harbor Plaza).
jmecme Posted January 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2017 We stayed 3 nights post cruise at the Bahia Mar Doubletree. Beautiful hotel and fabulous location! Able to walk to restaurants and bars. Water taxi was right next to hotel. No need for a rental car. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

What is your budget? Will you have a rental car? Do you want to spend time at the beach or just lay by the pool and enjoy the warm weather or do an Everglades tour? eandj Posted January 5, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2017 For a two day stay, 17th St. hotels wouldn't be my choice to enjoy the good life of Fort. Stay along the beach. Can't offer more as you have offered little to guide us to the best choices for you.
jojokay Posted January 5, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted January 5, 2017 We want to do an everglades tour and if the Penguins are home we may try to hit a game in Sunrise. Otherwise just check out Fort Lauderdale and the beaches. Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app

I would stay in Plantation or Sunrise, perhaps one of the hotels walking distance to the BB&T Center. Then you could drive to the beach. Also, Sawgrass Mills Mall is just a few blocks from the BB&T Center.
SraLiz Posted January 6, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 6, 2017 3 couples stayed at the Riverside in October and LOVED it! Awesome hotel, beautiful area. We walked and rode the water taxi. Great restaurants within walking distance. Really, really nice. Highly recommend.
