Toodums80 Posted January 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Does anyone know the difference between a premium suite and a vista suite? Trying to decide what to book for a 10th anniversary cruise later this year. Sent from my iPad using Forums
f-mattox Posted January 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Premium suites are quite large but they are all the forward (except on Golden Princess where they are on Sun Deck aft) but it is often very windy and the balconies are not usable while at sea. Vista Suites are all the way aft, are a little smaller, but the balconies are wonderful: large, covered, and almost always usable. Plus you have the incomparable wake view. I would take a Vista over a Premium any time. If you are cruising later this year I would book right away--Vista Suites are among the most desirable cabins on the ship. getting older slowly Posted July 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2017 Premium or vista, we did penthouse on the golden was wake view, great, nextdoor was a vista suite, it was in fact a little bigger, but did have a support block part of the view. But having said that, we spent many sea day in our cabin, and enjoy it, so we are going again and choosing a vista suite ( the one nextdoor ) the big thing same great location but a saving of about $2000 aus for two of us for 13 night cruise. So the premium or vista, I would go vista as you have the same view, space and save $2000 to spend on board or where ever. Looking forward to the next cruise
peety3 Posted July 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2017 On the Ruby, we've stayed in C749 twice (Penthouse) and E732 (Vista). Our other cruises have all been in mini-suites. For us, usually cruising to Alaska with a huge amount of photography gear, if I couldn't get into a Penthouse, I'd rather stay in a mini-suite than the Vista, as there's much less desk space and storage to work with. I do like the much fancier balcony with pretty much any suite, and we love the suite breakfast, but that's not enough to trump the functionality (for us) of a mini. The Vista just felt bare in so many ways - no shelves alongside the bathroom mirror, no desk (besides the makeup area next to the bed), etc.
cruzsnooze Posted July 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2017 I dislike Vista suites because the closet is inconvenient and the safe is in front of the closet door and hard to get to. I felt cramped in that configuration. I also dislike the wake view because you can't see coming or going from ports or the port when docked. It was so noisy (the wake) I couldn't relax and read on the balcony. I prefer Penthouse mid ship suites followed by the premium suite. The premium suite has a 105 SQ FT balcony which has a divider so you can avoid the wind in the section with tables and chairs. Their are 2 separate rooms, living and bedroom unlike Vista and penthouse which are one really big room with a curtain to divide the 2 areas if you want to. So you see there are 2 sides to every story.
