Free messenger service on other lines? What am I missing?

I found this reply on the "CC Roll Call Instant Messaging Poll" thread:

"Will not use precious Internet minutes on the ship when a free (Princess) messenger service exists. The folks I want to talk with on board all share the messenger codes."

Does such a service exist on Cunard? I'm in the dark about this - can anyone enlighten me?

I've not come across it on Cunard but here's a link to Princess that explains what it is all about. https://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/activities/princess-at-sea/

Thank you for the link, North West Newbie. That's a very useful tool offered on Princess, and without using cellular or data charges. Cunard, are you listening?

The majority of Cunarders already have some level of free internet access.

Indeed, and we have 8 hours each. The free service is more a portable onboard information system than internet access, as described here:

"Our complimentary onboard web service offering quick and convenient access to valuable information directly on your mobile device. Plan your day's events and activities, review the ship's itinerary and port guides, browse restaurant menus, even access your stateroom account! Plus, on select ships Princess@Sea Messenger allows you to send text messages to other guests onboard!"

I think it could prove quite handy, especially as more and more passengers use mobile devices onboard. Perhaps Carnival will install it across all brands, including Cunard.

As a side note, the internet speed and interface was vastly improved on Queen Mary 2 as of our last voyage in November/December.
