Great Stirrup Cay cancellations

Substituting another port is not always easy. If possible they will substitute a port, but when GSC is canceled, what is available nearby (not a lot), travel distances both to the substitute port and to the subsequent ports, the ability to set up up tours at substitute ports, etc. It is not just flipping a switch.

I have never been there, but have been to Half Moon Cay (Holland America's private island) 8 times- never have been cancelled. The cancellation rate there is about 15-20%, so would expect something similar at GSC. HAL usually doesn't substitute another port because there isn't a lot nearby.

There is really no way to tell in advance if they will skip this stop, or not. It could look like a "go" the night prior, but when you get there, the wind is too high....tides running wrong...

When you're on a cruise, you simply have to "go with the flow". You will have a sea day, if it's cancelled.
