Liberty - Just off - Quick to the point review

I have to agree that the disembarkation was the worst I've ever experienced. We were in the carry your own group A (which was supposed to get off first) but when we showed up during the appointed time they weren't using groups. The lines that had been formed weren't policed and people cut into those rather than following directions and getting into the newer lines. Those who followed directions were penalized.

 

Overall this was one of my least favorite cruises. However I'll start my review with the pluses:

 

Now for the minuses

 

Most of the folks we talked to (even those very loyal to Royal) said this the worst cruise and/or ship they'd been on.

Assuming this is a reply to my review I supposed it's possible it was me, but others we were cruising with were also disappointed. I wouldn't say it was bad, more disappointing and/or annoying. I still had a great time and many highlights, but most of them were related to the non-cruise ship activities we took part in.

Many people like to believe that the glass is half full, while for others, the glass has a hole in it. Sorry but too many waste time on the negatives, be it the location of a hotel room, or some service issue. Sorry, but sometimes it is you!

I posted the kind of review I would want to see. I was disappointed and gave some concrete examples of areas where I felt I was underwhelmed on the cruise. For those people how weren't bothered by such things it's a throw away review. For those who care about those things it might be useful.

 

Interestingly enough when I look at my collective reviews on Yelp or TripAdvisor most of them are positive and in the four and five star range. I rarely post a negative review unless I feel it is warranted. I found myself disappointed far more than I was delighted on the cruise itself, thus the tone and content of my review.

ASP3 - thank you for your review. I appreciated it and it felt like a fair review - I can't think of anything you have said that hasn't been said in several other reviews of Liberty the past few months! I am sorry that you are getting called out for the post with suggestions you are too negative.

 

We are cruising on Liberty in April and I find these comments help me set expectations (in some areas - disappointedly low for sure!).

MrsPete. Other then being 60, your theory fits me to a tee, Don't care for the sun or going to a beach, dislike most kids including mine (grandkids get a pass).

I was on this sailing and had a great time. The entertainment was great! I enjoyed Nathan Osmond's show, which I haven't seen anyone mention. Didn't get to the comedy shows, not my thing. I think there are more people on this cruise that drive to the port. Getting to and from the airport is more of an issue for people flying in. I was also very nervous about fog being an issue coming back. I probably won't do this cruise again due to the itinerary and distance from the airport. Roatan & Belize are not my favorite ports. The casino had $10 table limits that only went down to $5 for 1 hour each day. I think more people gamble on this itinerary, so it's probably a supply/demand thing.

 

I have to say the passengers on this cruise are probably the friendliest of any cruise I've taken. I traveled solo on this one and met a lot of great people.

Or actually it could be you. You said it once, twice wasn't warranted. You didn't pay for this persons cruise, or have the experience. ALL reviews are subjective to the reader, and truth to the reviewer as that was their experience. Move along to the next review and take/don't take the reviewers advise.

Loved your thorough and, I had the impression, fair review. Have been on many cruises. Sometimes a diamond, sometimes a stone (thank you, John Denver). Am set to sail her in September. I am rarely disappointed in a trip if I have done my homework and read reviews. I will read many more before September and will hopefully have a balanced opinion. The only time a trip disappoints is when high expectations are not met. Thank you for posting your opinion. Isn't that what a review is supposed to be -- your honest opinion?
