New to Princess

Hope to sail soon

We will soon be taking our first Princess cruise on the Crown Princess. We are not new to cruising as we are 4 Star on HAL and have also sailed Seabourn, Oceania, and NCL.

1. We are booked in C748 on the Crown Princess. We have read reports of the adjacent vent being noisy. We would appreciate it if someone who has sailed in that stateroom recently could comment on the noise or anything else that they think would be useful information about that stateroom.

2. What aspects of Princess (other than the food venues being open 24/7) do you think would be helpful.

Thank you!

Have not been in Crown C748 (aft Penthouse) but we have stayed in D736 and D737 (aft Vista) and never noticed any noise or bad smells etc. I would think the wake noise would drown out any kind of fan noise or whatever. The wake noise is pretty loud.

The thing we like the best about staying in a suite is being able to order from the main dining room and have it delivered to our cabin. Be sure to go to Sabatini's at least once for breakfast. Eating on the balcony isn't bad either.

Get your laundry out to the cabin steward before 9AM and it will come back that evening free of charge.

It's a great ship and that's a great room, enjoy!

Some random information:

C748 is a full suite, and you will receive all the Full suite amenities. Breakfast at Sabatini's is one of them, don't miss it. It is full suite passengers only. If you are sailing after April 2, 2017 you will have Club Class Dining. You can search this on the Princess web site, and here on CC. If you are sailing before April 2nd Club Class Dining will not be available. Be sure to review the Princess Patter each day for activities and shows. Watch for those activities that are really sales activities. There is a free sauna and steam room on deck 16 forward by the Lotus Spa Pool. It's open to all. The Terrace Pool and Lotus Spa Pool are adults only. The Calypso Reef Pool has an outdoor movie screen, MUTS, that is going all day and evening. Neptune's Reef pool is MUTS free. If you want to use The Sanctuary, deck 17 forward, visit as soon as you board to book. In tropical weather cruises it fills quickly. The cost is $20/half day am or p, $40 full day and $30/day if you book the entire cruise. You get a reserved comfy lounger of your choosing. As a full suite passenger you will receive a 1st night comp. dinner in one of the specialty restaurants. If you wish to dine in a specialty restaurant other evenings call the DINE line. Reservations for specialty restaurants can only be made once on board. Espresso drinks are available at the coffee bar next to the International Cafe. You can purchase them individually or purchase the Coffee Card. The Coffee Card contains 15 punches for espresso drinks plus unlimited brewed coffee and specialty teas throughout the cruise. If you don't want tea in your cabin, afternoon tea is served each day in one of the DR's. It is no charge. There is no charge for 24 hour room service, except if you order a pizza. Pizza carries a $3 charge. Pizza by the slice is free by the pool. In the evening starting around 9pm there is Crooner's Lounge, mid ship, deck 7. This can be very popular when the piano entertainer is really good. Some entertainers are better than others. Quiet places to read are Skywalker's Lounge, Deck 18 all the way aft, and Adagio Lounge, Deck 16 all the way aft. There is a free Pub Lunch some sea days in the Wheelhouse Bar. Look for it. Basically it is fish & chips and some other selections.

Having been on HAL and Princess I would say that HAL is more reserved with Princess is more active. The food quality and service levels are fairly close. Seabourn and Oceania offer a more things and service. Each adult passenger can carry on 1 x 750ml bottle of wine at no charge. This is for use in your cabin. If you bring the bottle to a public area or DR you will be charge a $15 corkage. Additional bottles can be carried on board and there is a $15 corkage per bottle. These bottles can be used anywhere on the ship. The All Inclusive Beverage Package is $57.45/pp/day and includes unlimited alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, including espresso drinks, for the cruise. You can look at the Princess website for details. Basically about 95% of all drinks sold on board are included. The breakeven is around 5 to 7 cocktails or wine per day, more if you are drinking straight spirits or beer.

Welcome to Cruise Critic! :)

The line for Anytime depends on the time you go to dinner. Also, being willing to share a table anyplace in the dining room helps. When we go to Anytime at 8 o'clock or later, we've never had a problem and have been seated quickly on Crown. :)
