2 Nights in Berlin then to Warnemunde

My friend and I have booked our flight to Berlin in September with Wednesday and Thursday free then we have a 13-day Costa cruise starting on Friday from Warnemunde. We've already purchased both of these so it's too late to go through a travel agent.

Any suggestions where we should stay, in Berlin, I assume, and then take the train to Warnemunde?

While I'm posting I might as well ask - our cruise ends up in Civitavecchia on Thursday morning so we'd like to spend one night in Rome then fly back to Berlin to catch our flight back to the US early Saturday morning. Any suggestions where we should stay in Rome? Is it easy to get from Civitavecchia to Rome without an excursion?

Yes, it is very easy to get from Civitiveccia to Rome without an excursion. You can walk from the port to the train station (or take a taxi, I guess if you can't manage your luggage.) Then hop on the train to Rome. Here's a very helpful article from Trip Advisor on how to do it.

We got off at the Termini Station and booked the Hotel Aberdeen for our stay in Rome. It's within walking distance of the train station if you can manage your bags. The rooms are basic--but clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable. The breakfast is good and the staff is fantastic.

I will be staying in Berlin at the end of March, I'll let you know how it went. Previosly 'i have stayed at the Hotel Ibis-Messe. It was a bit out of the center but the tram stop was very close. It was also reasonable.

Thank you!

We stayed in Berlin last year in the Melia Berlin which is very central and the main station is very close. There are quite a number of restaurants near and also the boats for river trips.

Thank you!
