moon girl Posted February 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2017 Has anyone had any experience with renting a car at the Orlando airport and then dropping it off the same day at the cruise port? Our flight arrives at 5:00 a.m and the shared shuttles don't start picking up until 8:30-9:00 a.m. We were thinking of renting a car and then dropping it off the same day! Any help is greatly appreciated!
JohninDC Posted February 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2017 Have not done same day but not sure why it would be an issue; you'll be charged for the day even though you only have the car about 6 hours.

Any help is greatly appreciated! We've done that a couple of times with Avis. The agency has a free shuttle (as do most in the Cocoa Beach area) to the cruise terminals. SteerageJoe Posted February 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2017 You will find the whole process super easy! Here is a map showing your route including the two toll booths ($1 + $ 1 = $2, change given) as well as the rental car locations near the Port. A few ideas: 1. Do not include the TOLL transponder because you will surely pay more than needed. 2. You will arrive early at the port about 1 hour away. The rental car shuttles will not drop passengers until things open at the port which may be 10am or thereabouts. 3. May I suggest you drive to Grills next to Terminal 1 for a nice breakfast then either drop your family and go and return the vehicle or do it as a unit. All rental car companies are with a few miles of the port.

Is there a better or worse time to do it? Seems like lots of congestion around 10-11am. Thanks.
