Rare dream2cruise Posted February 16, 2017 Author #76 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Day 6 - St. Kitts We booked a private food walking tour with Laura. Laurna met us at the meeting point on time. Another couple was supposed to join us but there was some confusion regarding time as they arrived an hour early. After trying to find, call and text them for about 15 minutes, we went on our way. The first part of the walk was the longest but totally worth the splendid views when we arrived at Palm Court. Johnny Cakes, Salt Fish and Salad with Honey Dijon Dressing The second stop was at Excelsior where we had our choice of soft drinks including Sorrel, Ginger Beer and Ting. The "tasting" was Roti wrap (chicken and potatoes in yellow curry) with a salad. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare dream2cruise Posted February 16, 2017 Author #86 Share Posted February 16, 2017 If you are looking for pictures of the ship, I don't have any to share. With all the great videos on YouTube and other reviews on Cruise Critic, I doubt I could've brought anything new to the table. I did notice that carpet colors are different for the port and starboard stairs both aft and forward on the ship. Rare dream2cruise Posted February 16, 2017 Author #89 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Day 6 - St. Kitts continued After Excelsior, we stopped at St. George's Anglican Church where our friend had a chance to play the 130 year-old pipe organ. Our next stop was a sweets shop, "Plush", where we had red velvet cupcakes. They were yummy! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare dream2cruise Posted February 17, 2017 Author #90 Share Posted February 17, 2017 Day 6 - St. Kitts continued After our tasty cupcakes, we headed over to "The Gallery Cafe" where we had iced lemongrass tea and homemade shortbread cookies. Local artists display their artwork. No pictures to share of the art per restrictions. After our sweets, we headed over to a "bonus" stop to enjoy some spicy/sweet grilled pork and chicken from a street vendor named Vernie. If you can't handle spicy, ask for the sweet. Our last stop was for Carib beer. This was an amazing tour that I highly recommend. There was plenty of good local food and drink plus site-seeing along the way. Laurna was a great guide. Rare dream2cruise Posted February 17, 2017 Author #91 Share Posted February 17, 2017 Day 6 - St. Kitts continued After all the yummy food on the tour, we scrambled to find a Caribbean Santa shirt for my brother prior to boarding the ship. Although stuffed from lunch, we managed to find some room for dinner in the dining room. Seared Beef Carpaccio Chilled Mango and Pineapple Soup Seafood Ceviche New England Clam Chowder Shrimp Gyoza - Delicious!! meredithgirl Posted February 18, 2017 #93 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Thank you for this review! This is our first time on RC and I'm surprised to see how many seafood choices are on the evening menu. Since I'm not a seafood eater, I appreciate knowing what my options are. We sail on March 4. Rare dream2cruise Posted February 18, 2017 Author #94 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Thank you for this review! This is our first time on RC and I'm surprised to see how many seafood choices are on the evening menu. Since I'm not a seafood eater, I appreciate knowing what my options are. We sail on March 4. Can't wait! RC has become our 1st choice but we only have Carnival and Premier for comparison. The cold fruit soups could also serve well as desserts. I've heard that Indian dishes are available as off menu choices but haven't ever asked. There are vegetarian, chicken and meat options available every evening so you should be able to avoid the seafood. Rare dream2cruise Posted February 18, 2017 Author #96 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Day 7 - 2nd Sea Day My notes and pictures are a little skimpy for the last two days at sea so here's what I recall. The previous night we started heading back to Fort Lauderdale via the route we came to avoid nasty weather so the captain has to get the engineer to increase our speed quite a bit. We didn't stay for the street party last night so we missed some of the fun including a shout out for our anniversary (sorry Ron & Laura). We posted a note on our door that we planned to sleep late and also left phone messages relaying the same to our traveling buddies. We had a Late breakfast in Windjammer followed by a session of Bingo with our friends. Next up was lunch in the dining room, but my memory is a little foggy. I know we put some food in our tummies in preparation for a Johnny Walker tasting we had signed up for earlier in the week. This is one of those insider freebie tips that you have to know about because it typically isn't promoted anywhere. We attended a free Johnny Walker seminar on Vision at Thanksgiving 2015 so we know to ask now. If you want to try some good whiskey, ask the manager of the General Store if there is a sign up sheet for a Johnny Walker tasting. There were only about a dozen of us for this private event. The General store was closed to everyone else while we had the opportunity to taste the red, black, double black, gold, platinum and blue. The double black was my favorite with a smooth, smoky flavor. The event on the Vision was a bit more extensive but we think there was a sales rep from Johnny Walker holding the tasting seminar that time. Regardless, it was still a great opportunity to try some whiskey! After the whiskey tasting, we hung out with friends and family prior to dinner and the show. The show was well done with costumes and scenery for various fairy tales told with modern music. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
