Baandb Posted February 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I notice that a number of posters refer to Oceania's "Official Policy". Typically this phrase is used to support an argument related to the perennial topics of alcohol consumption; alcohol packages; embarkation; disembarkation; smoking; independent tours; dress code; tenders etc. I'm familiar with Oceania's "FAQ Pages" and their "Terms & Conditions". However many of the "Official Policies" quoted in these forums include statements that seem unable to be collaborated by publicly available documents. Do these "Official Policies" actually exist? Baandb Posted February 15, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Can you please be more specific?Which "Official Policy" are you referring to? Hi Paul The trigger point was a comment in a recent thread that stated: "Oceania official policy is not to favor ship tours for disembarkation" Thanks
Paulchili Posted February 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I assume that you mean for tendering (or special places like St. Petersburg)?I am not aware of an official policy on this. IME it varies from cruise to cruise. While they certainly "prefer" disembarking tours first, in SPB you can disembark when you are ready (don't let them tell you otherwise). More difficult with tenders but I have seen tenders "completed" with a few people not on the tour. I have even seen arrangements for larger groups to tender before the tours were ready (as on Eastert Island). So - I don't think there is an official policy and this can vary depending on shore excursion people.
Paulchili Posted February 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2017 I should add that I am not an expert on O's "Official Policies". I am only relating my experiences over the years.Others may have different information on this subject.
