aimingforplatinum Posted February 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2017 This may be a little bit of a long shot but we have 3 families driving rental cars from Orlando (Doing Disney/Universal the week before the cruise) to Miami the day of the cruise. We haven't booked our rental cars yet and are trying to figure out the best most efficient way to get the cars returned and get to the port. Does anyone know of Rental Car Companies that might have a shuttle to the port or should we just plan to drop off cars at the airport and take the Carnival shuttle? These are fairly large families here so we are talking about shuttle costs for 12-16 people. Anyone with some helpful tips??

aimingforplatinum Posted February 15, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Thank you very much. I saw that when looking, to complicate our situation more two of the families have rental car rewards points they want to use with agencies other than Budget. Pretty sure I will be going to Budget route.
lizardhowson Posted February 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Take them to the MIA airport, almost all the rental car companies offer a free shuttle to the Port of Miami
aimingforplatinum Posted February 15, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted February 15, 2017 That is exactly what I was hoping for, but I couldn't find anything concrete showing that they do or do not have a free shuttle to the cruise terminal.
firemanbobswife Posted February 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2017 There is an Alamo Rental car at the Intercontinental hotel right by the port. You could see about dropping it off there and taking Uber to the port. It's cheap and simple.
Cousin Eddie Posted February 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2017 We used Avis leaving the ship in Miami a couple of months ago. They had a shuttle from the port to a downtown location in the Brickell area. I overheard them tell a couple that the last shuttle from their office to the port leaves at 2pm. I would agree though that the airport would be a better choice for you since all the companies are represented there and it's easier to get in and out of there then to get around downtown. Corby114 Posted February 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Alamo, National, Enterprise, Dollar, and Thifty provide free shuttle service from the Rental Car Center which is located directly across from Miami International Airport. The shuttles operate from the top floor and the ride takes approximately twenty minutes to the Port Of Miami. Hertz, Budget, and Avis have downtown Miami locations that a very close to the Port Of Miami. Cruise Critic posters give conflicting reports if the downtown locations provide free shuttle service. I personally have used Alamo and Dollar and have never had a problem regarding service in both directions.
loanshark Posted February 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Alamo / National / Enterprise / Thrifty / Dollar - use the Miami airport location Hertz - use the 229 Southeast 2nd Street location Budget - use the 89 SE 2nd St location Avis - use the 99 SE 2nd St location Avis and Budget are really the same building right next to each other.
