making waves Posted February 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2017 I booked an excursion in Bonaire for my group. I got an email from them saying that the time on the Carnival Pride is one hour earlier than Bonaire. We were supposed to meet at 9:30 am and now has been changed to 8:30. Apparently there was some confusion last week with a group and even the Harbormaster was unaware of this issue. Is anyone aware of a time difference between the ship and Bonaire? Rare shof515 Posted February 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2017 this is the time in Bonaire right now: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/netherlands/kralendijk-bonaire not matter what time Bonaire, you are suppose to use SHIPS TIME which is the same time as HOMEPORT time which should be US Eastern Time for the Pride
cb at sea Posted February 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2017 Not every ship changes time to match the port....so you will not know until you get there...but if there IS a time change, you will be informed. We always go by ship's time, no matter what that is.....it's the only way to be sure not to miss sail away!
coevan Posted February 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2017 don't worry, the shore excursion people know the time better than you. This is how they make their living, they know ships time, land time, when you're arriving, when you depart, and when they have to have you back to the ship. maryred Posted February 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I take it that you mean you booked the tour privately not through the cruise line. Any tours booked directly with operators in the port will be on local time which does not always match ship's time. It is not unusually for the local time to be 1-2 hours off of ship's time which remains on the departure port's time zone. If this is the case the tour operator maybe trying to convert the time the tour is offered to ship's time. Don't take this as the tour guide being confused, as it is meant to show that the tour company is aware of the time difference and is expecting your group to meet them at that ship's time for the tour.
