Hi cruising on Azura in five weeks. Been to Barcelona many times so fancied something different. There is a tour to Monserrat and was wondering if anyone had done this excursion and what it was like.

Thankyou

Can't help you with the cruise excursion, but just to say that we did Monserrat on our own when staying in Barcelona and it was a fantastic experience. Loved the train ride up, did some walking, the basilica was amazing and there were a number of small stalls selling lovely local cheeses and wine and honey and membrillo. Well worth going.

Be awate though that the weather can be very different up in the hills, so take a waterproof!

Montserrat is in a beautiful location, so you can look forward to a very scenic coach journey. There can be long queues to see the "Black Madonna". There are also furnicular railways going from the main monastery - the one that climbs further up from the monastery leads to a little secluded plateau with amazing views of the monastery and the surrounding area.
